Quadrajet Connector
 

I have a quadrajet carb on my 85 Silverado. It has the plug for the dual capacity accelerator pump on it. It is a yellow-ish/brown plug with the two wires going to it. The only wires on the carb. As you can see in the pic, the wiring harness side of the connector has a broken locking tab so I would like to replace the connector.

Does anyone know where to find this or a suitable substitute for it?

So far, nothing. Tried all the quadrajet specific websites, Napa, etc.

If anyone has this connector zip tied out of the way because you have swapped carbs, let me know. :metal:

Ditto what dmjlambert said ... a picture of the connector with it unplugged from the carb would be helpful.

I'm thinking it might be a Delphi / Aptiv Metri-Pack connector. Possibly something along the lines of a #12052644 https://www.customconnectorkits.com/12052644/ but can't say for sure.

If that solenoid is not connected, then the accelerator pump act normal when you step on the accelerator. If it is working normal, once the engine reached 170* it will be activated and when you step on the accelerator half of the fuel from the accelerator pump will be circulated back into the float bowl and the other half down the throat of the carb. This setup was only on Light Duty Emission trucks for 1985 and 1986.

That is interesting. I wonder if it saves a noticeable amount of gas.

If you are talking about the 2 wire plug on the top right side carburetor that is the connector for the mixture control solenoid does not anything to do with accelerator pump. It was common for that plug to break off the locking tap, at the dealerships we would just run two zip ties between the wires and around the whole connector. The only connector that has anything to do with the accelerator pump is the 3 wire connector on the left side front of the carburetor, it is the Throttle Position Sensor and has nothing to do with the operation of the pump at all.

Cool, can you explain to me how it works and what it does? While the busted clip is annoying to my OCD, I would rather know something new about my truck. Everywhere I've looked, to include here, it has been referred to as the dual capacity accelerator pump. :lol:

Also, if you have any insight as to where I can find a new connector, that'd be great!

Dual capacity accelerator pump control or Computer controlled mixture control solenoid in that position on Quadrajet, depending on the innards and application. Here is how to identify: https://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/...celerator_pump

It may be possible to find a connector if you can you pull the connector off and show us a picture of it. Perhaps a picture of the connector on the wire, and the connector on the Quadrajet.
