Oct. 05' we bought this 72' Suburban for my wife. It was mostly primer, had origionaly been Med. green. The paint burned so bad over the years that where it was still origional paint it was silver. Overall the truck looked to be in decent shape. Previous owners had Rino-lined the bottom quarter... saved all of the rocker panels!!

So, this summer I decided to give it a nut and bolt restoration (all the way down to the nuts and bolts). We are almost finished.... not much more to go!
I'm down to the fine tuneing on the engine and I need to finish up the interior.

Let me know if guys want the nitty-gritty... but I'll post the pics...

CAN"T WAIT TILL IT"S DONE!!! :)

I just noticed something on your under hood picture. Your heater hoses are flip-flopped. Or possibly your heater core was put in upside down with the 5/8" tube to the top. It should be at the bottom and that one should come from the intake.

By the way....great burb. I don't get to see burbs that clean around here.

That all looks amazingly familiar to me. You are a very brave man...two acres of sheetmetal and all of it black! That is going to be one amazing Suburban! Keep up the good work,it is nice to know that another Suburban is being saved! Heres some more of the wifes Suburban as it progressed. More to follow as time allows(my help is here for hood installation!)

Zeus, What a beautuful job! I can't wait to see it when it's done. As I look at the piuctures of what is being built I realize we must have some kind of disease to what to go through this much work. If we name it maybe we can get some Federal funding and have a big party to study it!!!! Dave

Hey Dave,
What are your thoughts on a headliner? What are you doing on yours? Please help! This is one of the bigest hurdles that I have left to conquer.
Mike

Re: Updated pics of the wife's 72' suburban

We just looked over my headliner tonight. After we pulled it and looked it over the color it had faded too was far from clean looking. We are going to try to use some parchment paint to paint it as well as door panels and arm rests.

Re: Updated pics of the wife's 72' suburban

Bishops trucks,
The car under the cover is a 1930 Model A Deluxe coupe that I have been working on for the past 6 years. I'm hoping to have it finished in time to go to some car shows next summer. The biggest problem with that project is my 67-72 truck addiction keeps getting in the way!!!!!You know what I mean, you do an oil change and somehow a few days later you find yourself scraping undercoating off of a bare chassis in the driveway! I just don't know why this keeps happening! Faster57 is right,we need some federal funding for research!

Re: Updated pics of the wife's 72' suburban

I think you are right...so many projects so little time. I am very fortunate to have a very understanding wife(but then the Suburban is HER daily driver). I work in a restoration shop for a living so having access to those facilities is also a big advantage(it's their spray booth in the picture and a couple of the body guys did my body and paint work...I'm the mechanic). Most of the other projects that I work on are to bring in extra money to support my habit(or disease)!

Re: Updated pics of the wife's 72' suburban

I had a body shop for 23 years. I sold it and took a little over a year to goof off then my wife & I built a fitness center. Now I have a small shop at home and it's fun again. I do miss all the nice equip I use to have in the old shop but the stress is sure a lot less now!!!
