2WD for the win!!!

5 Attachment(s)
Well after 2 and a half years of looking at it and not really doing anything with it I am now going to start doing some work on my 71 2wd blazer. The only thing that I have done on it is find a big patch of bondo around the gas door, put a 68 front end on it, then take it off, and then put a 71-72 front end on it. So the big plan for it is to get it drive-able before I turn 30(07/07/10). I have no idea what motor or trans I'm going run yet. I'm thinking what ever deal I find. Oh well here are some pics.

The first are pics of when I picked it up.

The next are with the 68 front clip.

And last are in current condition.

Its not really progress but I dug out the only 71-72 front bumper I have and I'm going to see if there is any thing I can do to save it if not oh well I think its a cheap Taiwan made bumper anyways. I'm going to take it over to the chrome shop by my work and see what it will cost me to have it stripped down and than I'll go from there.

From the looks of your picture you may need to find another core. They may be able to repair it but I don't think you will like the price tag!

I just want it stripped by them not reconditioned I plan on painting it not chroming it. I've talked with a guy there before and he told they would probably throw it in the tank and strip it for a few bucks if so cool if not its on to plan B. Sorry I should of made that more clear.

I was thinking that was your plan. I think that one is a lost cause for a replate.

Ya its pretty rough but if I can make it usable for a few bucks Ill throw it on until I can find something better.

I just sold my 72 2wd Blazer. I have too many projects that will never get done. I have too many vehicles, last count I have
8 and 1 parts truck. I'm trying to reduce the fleet. I remember when you got your blazer/jimmy I was anxious to see your build. Keep posting pictures as you go.

I feel like I have too many projects going on as well (not just cars). I was hoping to get my VW done before I started on the blazer but I decided to put it on the back burner for a year or two so I can get this it least drivable.

It was one of those ideas you get, and you can't get it out of your head until you try it, I wanted to clean off the cast marks off of the door handle's and smooth them out a little bit and they turned out a lot better than I thought they would.

Update! Motor problem solved. I'm going to use the 350 out of my parts blazer with a TPI I picked up last weekend.

Curious as to what you used to smooth out the handles?
