Here it is my newly aquired gmc. was restored and owned by the same owner for 26 years. I have lots of plans for it but none invole it not being drivable for more than two weeks at a time.

I will be installing a transam clip in a week or so and i have some 18's on order. first order of buisness is to get it driving and riding nice, it is scary now. I need to c notch the frame as it bumps. Chrome rear bumper. Before spring paint and seat. But until then im gonna drive it.

I had trouble making the same decision, No limit or the "Lux" way, both ways are good, but if neatness is your concern with the underneath method, check out Indian113 buddy's frame, the famous silver one, to me that looks like it belongs!

Well i decided to go the lux way. Found a 74 firebird clip that was all rebuilt. So why wait.... i tore right into it and a couple hours later its going well.

Grinding the rivets out, how much fun has that been so far? :lol: That crossmember/ rad support might come in handy, I sliced mine up & re used it back in the clip.

front end is all in. finishing up engine stuff. Still need to do the steering and brakes and then the front end goes back on .No mater what any one tells ya ..its a lot of work and takes some time. But it sits low and will be a blast to drive!

The rear stance was off about 3/4" from one side to the next so i tore into it. It looks like the springs are shot and the shackles are egg shaped so i ordered a tci rear suspension kit. In the end i'd like it about an inch lower in the rear.

while taking it apart i have found a few surprises but not many! the box and fenders are very good, the cab corners will be replaced because they have some bubbling. As stated in another thread i will be eliminating the inner cab corners. The floor is in very good condition!
The tailgate had a louvered cover over it. It was only brazed and blended with bondo. When i striped it off i was very happy to find no rust no dents and original paint! |

Maybe you'll get lucky and find your rear cab corners may be alright once you get the paint off. Kim |

I did one corner today. they were original and not bad but the inners were rusted up pretty good and had rotted holes (the bubbles) through the outer. After stripping the interior found some sand in the crevises, this truck was all striped when it was done. Only grey primer and red fininsh paint on it. im Happy about that because im not gonna strip it.
