Heater blower wiring

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the forum but have already learned a great deal from others on this forum. I recently purchased a 68 C-10 that is in pretty good shape. It's an Arizona truck, and always has been. It doesn't need major work or anything, but I have been fixing a lot of minor problems like wiring, etc.

I'm working on the heater now. It didn't work when I bought the truck. I checked the orange wire that comes through the firewall and connects to the blower motor and it does have 12 VDC on it. The blower switch and the resistor are good. What is missing is the ground wire for the blower motor. Mine doesn't have one. I saw a picture of a motor on this forum, but couldn't get enough detail.

Can someone please tell me how the motor is grounded at the motor connection specifically?

Thanks!

There is a wire that runs from the one of the mounting bolts of the fan to the fire wall. its the shoe string looking type of wire. But any wire will do. The fan motor itself it grounded to its metal housing. If you aren't having any luck with that just use some jumper cables and go from the battery to the motor. the motor may be bad. They are kind of a pain to change because the hood hinge is in the way and must be removed.

I already had pulled the blower motor so using the info you provided, I just made up a ground connection to the frame of the blower and ran a jumper to a battery. The motor took off! So that's good news, now I can clean everything up and re-install.

Thank you for the info on that ground wire!

Here's a picture of my original. It grounds to the long lag bolt that goes through the heater box where the red circle is.
