Re: 369 with A/C Header question..

Not sure on a 69. I have a 68, and it's been apart a long time.
I do remember a power steering bracket attaches to the very front exhaust manifold/header bolt, on driver side, obviously...

The exh manifold is 3/4-1" thick, and the header is only as thick as the header flange, which is only 1/4-5/16" thick.

A spacer needs to be inserted between the header and the bracket to properly function. How I know this, I had a cheap set of black jack headers, years ago, did not have a spacer...I corn cob engineered it some how, but it needed something way better. I have a set of Hooker headers for it, when the comes to re-install the 396, it WILL have a spacer made for it!!!

Adapters and brackets for headers for these early pickups are essentially non existent, partly because of the rarity of a big block in these pickups and the knowledge of the vehicles.

Brackets for 73-up big blocks were improved and way better, and I assume the header builders assume that headers for 68-72 big blocks might be mostly for racing applications, where P/S brackets don't apply...who knows...

Could some of you that have P/S post some pictures of the P/S bracket with headers, and with stock manifolds?

Re: 369 with A/C Header question..

I just put Hedman mid length on my 402 in my 71 with ac. A heat shield on the passenger side had to be taken off and the mechanic said he had to make a small dent in one tube on the drivers side, other than that they fit and sound great. I can take some pics tomorrow if you want to see them. I am very happy with them though
