77 chevy cast iron transfer case
Can anyone tell me what is so special about this transmission. I have been told it is worth a chunk of change to rock crawlers. I have one that everyone keeps telling me there is a market for it but I have yet to find anyone that wants to buy it. This is not a post to sell it. It is just an information inquiry to see what is so special about it. Thanks for your time.

Uhm... NP203 or NP205? The NP203 can be doubled to the NP205 but other than that eh nothing special.

Re: 77 chevy cast iron transfer case
If it's a 203 that's behind a turbo 400 it could be worth something. I've sold some of those for a few bills.

Re: 77 chevy cast iron transfer case
If its a np205 that is the one everyone wants,If if its the np203 its only good to build a doubler out of really.Look on the t case for a tag or post a picture of it from the rear we can id it.

Re: 77 chevy cast iron transfer case
The NP205 is a gear drive unit that off road guys like for it's strength. The NP203 is a chain drive unit and as stated above can be used to make a "doubler" for further gear reduction. The NP203 and NP205 have low range gear ratios of about 2:1. A double will have a low range of about 4:1. The spline count for the TH350 and TH400 versions of the NP203 are different and I think it is the TH400 version that is used for the doubler.
