Time to start a build thread... The 1967... the first year of the body style and my first of this body style...

I picked up this pickup the first week of the year... Craigslist find, no engine/trans, body fairly straight, no rust, clean title... $450.

Within the first week, thanks to my "bro's", I quickly gathered up some parts that they donated to me. :) Greg (panelrat65) hooked me up with a set of steelies for it. 15x8's for the rear, 15x6's for the front. He also gave me a set of original T3 headlights for it to fill those holes in the front... along with many other parts. Thanks Greg!!

My other buddy, Danny, hooked me up with a pair of brand new BFG Radial T/A's for it... with the stickers! 235/60r15. I plan on running those up front with some larger in the rear. :ito:

Then, Danny's brother Abraham, who I like to call "Mr. President" hooked me up with a fresh 250 straight 6 and SM420 4 speed out of a '68 Chevy... complete from carb to pan... I'll be going to load that up real soon. Thanks Abe!

I also got a box of parts from my buddy Rich (striptnut) including clutch linkage and a pair of headlight buckets for the T-3's.

I've been to the junkyard and picked up a radiator and a few other misc. parts that I'll be needing.

Enough of the long intro... here are some pics of the day we picked it up... :chevy:

For fun, I quickly put on the wheels that Greg gave me. The plan is to paint the wheels dark grey and run some beauty rings and dogdish caps...

Not much progress since then, but thanks to panelrat and stripnut... oh and some headlight hardware that the junkyard "donated" to me  she now has a set of eyes...

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

No progress yet this weekend, but I have 350 in my sights. :) My bro-in-law is picking up a '71 Blazer for a good price, helping out some friends of his that need to get rid of it. The engine runs good and he don't really want to keep the Blazer. So he picked it up just to 'flip' it. So we're going to pull the 350 out, and drop in the 250 I previously acquired... clean up the Blazer and get it on the market.

My plans for the 350 is just to give it a "Krylon" rebuild... seals, gaskets and paint and drop it in. Won't be long now... Until next time..

Here's steering wheel I plan on running. Old school woodgrain 15". I bought this wheel on C/L a while back, ended up doing some 'horse-trading' with my buddy. He had it in his '56 Belair for a while. He ended up taking it out for a flake wheel and he hooked me back up with this wheel the day we picked up the truck. Thanks panelrat65! :)

Been getting a few things done this week. Played hookie on Monday and painted the wheels and had the tires mounted and balanced. After that I couldn't wait to get them on the truck...

After comparing the 250 I got from Abe and the 350 that Carlos later offered me, I felt waaay more comfortable going with the six. I spent a few nights after work this week cleaning and painting. I'm hoping to drop it in tonight. Here she is...

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

I've been wanting to go with a 6 in one of my projects for awhile. The last time I was setting up for a 6, I ended up getting talked into another SBC... which is my comfort zone I guess. And it almost happened again this time, but the 250 won that battle. I look forward to driving this truck with the six.. and the ol' 4speed too! It's gonna be fun.. :chevy:

I know what you mean. I have a V6 in my 60 GMC. I just love how smooth those old 6's are.

I also love seeing people look at the V6 and try and figure out what it is. I get people all the time thinking it's a 348 or 409...

Played hookie again on Friday to drop in the 250. Went okay for the most part. Jumped inside to install the shifter but ends up hitting the dash in first and third. Rather than just heat and bend the shifter I'm ditching the whole transmission. I have an M20 or 21 (not sure exactly) at the house. Now my plans are to run that... Thanks 'striptnut' for hooking me up with that not too long ago. Also seems that the front has been lowered slightly now that it has the weight of the engine. Looks pretty cool... :chevy:

Now she's up on the lift for the trans swap. Also going to install the driveshafts, exhaust and clutch linkage while the lift is available.

Well this weekend I had plenty of plans to do some work, but the motivation never showed up.. so I did nothing to the '67... Today at lunch I went to the shop to visit her. I ended up installing the bellhousing mount bolts and popping on my freshly painted hubcaps. Now, I know these caps didn't start until '69 but I had a set hanging in the garage. They had the gold bowtie for the '73-up, but my buddy Danny "D-Ray" hooked me up with some paint work. Thanks Dan!
