Oh, good lord. You've explained the house/Snap-On paradigm, right? Glad he's doing well.

Still breathing. Some recent motivation! Chip hustles down to Texas for a radical four-eye, I miss Vic Cook in my neighborhood by a millisecond and Greg has Steiner outside next to his Gen 1 Camaro. Oh, and I sold the damn house :metal::metal::metal:. I hadn't been to my storage unit in months but had to dump off a few last things and got to lay my hands on that old cab. Soooo I ordered rods! Gonna grab a stand, that old block and git to some blueprintin'! We'll have this thing howling on an old tire and a bucket of gas by Christmas.
Knuckles is doing awesome. Still wrenching on big Ford trucks and learning a ton. Pulling side work along too. Did heads on a Durango for a pal of mine, finishing up some Subaru work for another friend and a neighbor just dropped off his '75 K5 plow rig for a motor job. More motivation for me to grab a stand while there's still Room! Stay tuned... 6" small journals baby! |
Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
It's good to hear from you and that you are doing okay.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Glad you're still kickin'! Good to hear Knuckles is doing well.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Glad to see you're busy. Tearing all sorts building timber down.
If you were closer I'd let you use/give you an engine stand. You'll be rolling soon. |

Thanks for the check-ins and my apologies for going soo silent. I'm working with a miniature touch screen device these days, which is a PITA! Rods showed up and I grabbed my block, crank and pistons from storage. I plan on getting some block work done soon! I need bored, zero-decked (square), then I need to do some measuring so I can mill the pistons down to 11.0:1. In the meantime, I think I'm going to drag another shorty home this weekend. I want to sell the plastic truck I'm driving to free up another $450 / month. She's got a factory 400 that's drinking water. Boy has lots of goodies and I'm thinking a basic internally balanced rotating assembly and some iron heads will do the trick. A much better driver in my opinion! Barbie truck gets 15MPG and is a DOG! Whatchya think for $2500? 1977 Silverado!

Not bad, if you can really swing the new motor in a timely fashion. (spoken from experience...) I like it!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
That looks like a good deal.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
I have a soft spot for square bodies... always twist my neck when one goes by on the highway.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Looks like a decent truck from the pics. I think I'd be all over it.......

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
I hauled it to the house last weekend and promptly had the block stripped. Well, Knuckles did.
It's a 511 four-bolt at +0.030" that could probably stay that way. It had cracked-to-sh!t 882's and hydro-locked #5 (bent rod). The bottom end is already at the machine shop for bore (probably), zero-deck, re-con 5.7" rods and balanced. I pulled the trigger on some Brodix aluminum heads today. The machine shop has ordered some KB 18cc pistons that'll get me around 10.2:1 or so. I've also got a 282ish hydraulic roller kit in the cart! I'd start a new thread over in "square land" but this is just going to be my driver. The goal here is to sell the plastic truck to free up moolah to get my "build" back on track. It's just a side-bar here but it's gonna be a scooter! |
Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
Its all good, digging the rebuild on the new daily.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew
That should make for a real nice 406.

It's always been my understanding that for a street use SB 400, you need the steam holes.

Still working on the wrong truck here again but this stuff showed up today. Cam and lifters are on the way for a Wednesday arrival... Thought I'd have my bottom end today but no call. Knuckles dropped off a block and crank yesterday and my block was honed and decked (mocked up for a real zero). Waiting on balance I suppose.
