Great job Kevin.:metal:
About that last piece, find a large telephone pole and wrap it around till you get the right shape. I know of a guy that made a dash that way.:smoke:

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

almost got the patch welded up today. still have some more grinding and welding to do...it actually turned out to be 3 pieces lol

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...1-18173309.jpg

i do have a question though...i think all my doors pop out at the bottom. the gap is perfect up until about where the door handle is...then it start popping out and is kinda bad at the bottom corner. does anyone know why its like that and how to fix them?

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

could be a weak hinge or just a hinge adjustment/shim needed.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

hmm..ima have check on that. im getting ready to fix my rockers in the next week or so i might have to fix that soon

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

well i got something done lately. i finished up the area behind the 3rd door...and also made a strip that i welded along the bottom to give it that original pinch weld look.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...1-25101051.jpg
then i moved on to the driver side to fix the area that needs a wheel arch indention. unfortunately, the blazer piece i bought did not work. the curves are not the same. i didnt figure this out until after i cut out the area on suburban lol. but no biggie, i just welded it back on, and i did use a small piece by the body line that i screwed up the first time i did this (it was first time welding ever when i did that piece)...so it wasnt a total waste of time.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...1-25101105.jpg

now im still in the hole on how to figure out how to get a body line in there lol. there is no way its gonna stay like that, it will bother me every time i look at it. so we gotta brainstorm here guys...

Although I don't know if a burb is the same as a truck, I think the part you are looking for is #7 front pillar HERE

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

that looks like it! i wonder though, it looks like half of what i have. is this piece suppose to be cut it in half and welded to the other half? mine looks like i have 4 bolt holes total...

The other half is the fender mount (#5) on the same page at least I think. There are 2- 3/8" bolts that hold it together and it is spotwelded togther.
For your reference Here More is where I changed the same parts on mine.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

well...this is what i mean. on yours, it looks like there is enough room on the side to drill the holes for the original bolts, if the new piece didnt have it. on the ones im looking at, it doesnt have any room at all. here is a driver side replacement piece..

http://www.manestruckparts.com/store...oduct_662P.jpg

doesnt look like any room on the side closest to the door for the 2 original holes.

hmm weird, i bought mine from lmc and it had enough room to drill the holes...

i just remembered there was not much meat to bite too, i did spot weld and plug weld(not picture) and i did use a bigger washer to bite..

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

well i guess its not that big of a deal, i can spot weld it in instead of using the screws...i just thought it looked weird. did you replace the back piece too on yours?

yeah i had to patch some of the floor inner kick panel, inner rocker and outer rocker. you can see the first page of the build thread for the carnage...

also i see alot of people plug welding instead of using bolts. I believe kevin even did this on his rocker replacement 101 ( i was skeered to weld that section solid, as i wanted to make sure all lined up first)

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

and they are on back order lol..i think im gonna order them anyways. there is a few things i can work on while i wait.

im gonna start cutting out the crossmember and getting the frame ready for the notch. question though...i only remove the crossmember in front of the axle right? the one next to the tank stays? i tried sliding it over the frame and it looks like just the front one has to come off. any tips appreciated!

you'll most likely have to trim the notch like i did on mine to leave the the rear cross member their, and have the notch centered over the axle.

edit: here's a couple old pics of mine so you can kind of see what I'm talking about
