My 1960 cardinal red Chevy longbed “survivor”
 

Bought this truck a couple years ago. The plan was to make it a short bed and static low with a stock appearance. These pics are from the day I bought it Feb 3 2019. All I did was take the seat cover off.

After a couple months I pulled the bed apart and told the bedsides to Kyle @ metalox / @C10acres on IG. He has shortened other bedsides for me in the past.

After that the truck has pretty mush sat around while I worked on other projects. I did gather some new parts for it here and there. From day 1 I wanted this truck shortbeded, do a rear big window conversion, chrome hubcaps and bumpers, polish original exterior paint and repaint inter to a stock ish color. I also wanted this truck Static Low with 16” wheels and coker bias ply racial tires!!

A couple months ago while doing research on swapping torsion bar front end to a 63-87 style front coil spring I wanted to do a pancake crossmember. About this time I found a local guy that I reached out to for some info and I decided to have him do 1 for me. I was and still am extremely pleased with his work! He had done several and so I had him do mine.

So Today was the day I finally got all my other projects finished up so I could work on my 1960!!!! I packed wheel bearings and assembled rotors on to spindles. I also painted the fro t wheel. And assembled the front 2 “ pancake crossmember with lower tubular CPP arms and 2 1/2” dropped spindles with 6 lug rotors.

Great progress today! I cannot wait to get to work on this truck next week. I am trying to balance my other project and this 1. My goal is to work on this 60 truck one day a week. I will post what I get done! Feels so good to finally get to this 1960 Survivior!!

Yep that's pretty cool, I like the gray.

Pulled the shortbed frame out of hibernation and washed it off.

It’s officially on the “side burner” moved it to a good buddys garage so I can work on it inside! I couldn’t help my self I laid the SBC mock-up engine on the front crossmember! I painted the valve covers grey to sample future engine color. I just can’t do a orange engine in a cardinal red truck.

Nice progress. Glad your keeping the correct color for the engine. Gray was the color for the 283s and 235s for those years. I kept my 235 gray also. When I take it to the shows people ask me why gray and when I tell the Thad the way they cam they are surprised.

No more torsion bar suspension!

I have been wanting to do this for a long time!! So STOKED!!!! Mock-up static stance! 2” pancake coil spring crossmember no more torsion bars!

Enjoying your build so far. Can't wait to see the end result! I am amazed when I watch these kids of builds, some serious skill goes into this kind of build. Makes me wish I had the same level of knowledge. Keep up the great work!

Lumber Jack Fun today! Ripped the bed floor apart. Pulled the truck out of side yard to clean up mess. Did a burnout putting back in side yard!! Had to!!!!
