10 inch or 11 inch clutch on same flywheel?
Pulled the clutch out of my '67 c10 yesterday. It has a 10" pressure plate with a 9-1/8" disk. That's is a no-brainer mismatch. Anyhow my local parts guy claims that either a 10" or an 11" clutch set will work. I would prefer the 11". So I measured 11" inside my 10" cover and 11" comes almost to the holes for the bolts to the flywheel. The Store would have to order either one in, I would like to get it right the first time. Does anyone know if indeed that is true, will a 10" or 11" work on the same flywheel?

What engine do you have?
I put a 11 inch clutch behind the 454 in my '71 and it fit just fine. Auto Zone had it in stock. I am sure some one else will chime in since I am bumping this to the top. |

I'd say it won't fit. The 11 &12 interchange but not the 10 in.

I agree with Wrenchbender, whatever the face of the pressure plate measures is the largest one I would go with. LockDoc |
Re: 10 inch or 11 inch clutch on same flywheel?
Some newer flywheels are bored for both size clutches but the oldes one may not be. My old 69 had with a 250 six had a heavy duty clutch and since it was a daily driver it was a bear to drive. I converted to smaller clutch but had to get another flywheel.

The replies sum up what I was thinking, I don't think the 10" can be replaced with the 11". One reason being the bolt holes in the flywheel. I am going to talk again to the parts guy. Thanks for your replies. |
