The cab went off to the sandblaster so I can see where all my problems were. Then I covered the whole thing and epoxy primer. Now I'm working on body work on the cab.

Does anyone know the best way to clean the tahoe frame to get it ready for paint?

Sandblasting is the most thorough and best way to prep the frame for paint

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.

Im not pulling the motor, tranny, transfercase or anything out of the frame. I need to clean up the frame from the tahoe as it sets.

I would pressure wash the frame and use some rustoleum professional black paint from Lowes mix it one part paint to 1/2 naptha thinner also from lowes. and spray it.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.

Going to be difficult to clean and prep the Tahoe frame. I would remove top shock bolts and bag the shocks. Wrap everything possible with 6 mil plastic, wrapping that with cheap masking tape. Small sandblaster, do the best you can, then blow it off with air. then power wash if necessary. Mastercoat silver primer, epoxy primer and black topcoat.

Someone else on here is doing the same thing- tahoe/pick-up combo. Can't remember his online name- he was almost done the last time I checked in. Looks like a great project!

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.

I have seen a couple others on here Tigger that are doing the same thing but I have not seen any of them finished yet. I hope that's not a bad sign. LOL. But I am going to get this one finished.
