68 k-10 4x4 SWB needs frame

1 Attachment(s)
I am looking for any info on the 67-68 K-10 4x4 frames.
My 68 SWB frame is in very bad shape from the bed back to the bumper.
I do know the 4x4 frame is different than a C-10 frame.

Does anyone here have any helpful info so I can get started on my 68 K10 4x4 SWB build? I would sure appreciate any help at all. Thanks!

A SWB K10 frame is going to be tough to find and pricey...pretty sure you can use any rear section with leaf springs, even K or C20

One thing about the SWB frames is like the blazers they have a slightly thinner gauge frame. I would try to use cuts from another Kframe if possible. Got any pictures of where you are needing to repair? That will help get an idea what you can and can’t use.

I do have access to a two wheel drive short bed frame with rear leaf springs. I’ll do some measuring. Thanks.

The frame is rusted almost all the way through on both sides close to the forward rear leaf mounting brackets. Also it’s broke on the rear side of both leaf brackets from the rear bumper being welded onto the truck. Somebody jerked the hell out of something to crack the frame both sides.

You’ll need to find a 4x4 frame to be correct but could probably make a 2 wheel frame work. The two wheel frames are quite different in the back half than the 4x4’s.

Find a really good welder and have yours fixed. Better to fish plate the weak sections. Post up pics but I bet it can be fixed.

If you have a good 2wd leaf spring frame you've got it whipped. Modifying for the leafs is the hard part. Take the front leafs and bracketts, K frame, shocks and mounts and locate on the 2wd frame. I did it the other way on a 3 door years ago and you don't wanna go that way unless you have to

You'll probably have to remove the 2wd frame center support to make room for the transfer case and cross-member but it will be a better job and you have the template for all the measurements right there

This is the best bet so far, correct gauge metal and no extra bends in the back of the frame. I would not use a short bed 2wd frame if at all possible, like I said the back half’s are totally different, doesn’t matter if the the 2 wheel drive frames are coil or leaf.

Buy that K5 frame from 1rippen6 and cut down the bed to fit. A 104 inch wheelbase pickup would be awesome!
