Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
2 Attachment(s)
I have a 1970 model GMC Sierra Grande SWB fleet. The spid shows 'Gold Custom Vinyl'
The seat cover looks like the original to me, and the door panels are pretty well used :D I have been looking around, does anyone know of a place you can buy this color? I have been considering changing over to black but I really like the gold color. It's a light tan, not really gold with sparkles. |
Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
My 1970 GMC has the gold interior too I love this color. I posted a thread a while back about this also I didnt get much of an answer but I guess no one reproduces the gold interior color from what I got. So I have looking through all the junk yards for gold interior trucks and looking for parts it seems to be more common on GMCs, its not the same gold as the anniversary 68 chevys. So I tried to dye some stuff but its still to me not as good as original. Still cant find some good door panels and armrests but found some things I need. Good luck on your search.

My steering wheel has a few minor cracks in it too .. I might need to think about a replacement :D
Looks like I may be changing over to Saddle or Black. |
Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
I don't know anyone who reproduces the "gold" colored seat upholstery.
Ever thought about switching to red? The 1970 red color was a bright red,... not maroon, like they had in '69. |
Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
Humm .. I like red too now.
Would you just paint the glove box lid black in that case? Red seat, door panels, and carpet or do black carpet? Black column and either red or black 3 spoke wheel? Maybe even a rosewood wheel to match the wood grain on the top of the door panels. .. Red houndstooth? |
Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
I think the red GMC's had the glovebox door and dash bezel painted red.
Column would be red unless it was a tilt. I vote for: Red seat Red door panels Red carpet Red dash pad |

I agree!!! ^^

Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
Might be a goofy question, but is it possible to run a 3OTT and a tilt column? did they ever make such a combo?

A black column would look fine with a 3-spoke wheel. I like the '69 Camaro "rosewood" wheel idea for the steering wheel, also! |
Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
So,.. bright red? really?
That might look pretty cool with the black / white top. My truck has the lighter trim on it though. Would it match? Black dress, tan legs, and red shoes? |
Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
Would you have any better pics of the truck?

Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
I have a thread on it .. if you want to check it out.

Re: Where to buy 'Gold' custom vinyl seat covers and door panels??
I PM'ed Tim to see if he could do red. How about Red / Red houndstooth on a bench seat? I think it would look cool with the 71 type custom door panels and the wood across the top. The wood pieces on mine are still pretty good, the chrome might clean up too.
Definitely an option. That 'Gold' color is impossible to find from what I can tell at this point. |

mgkgmc -- try this one. If it doesn't work I can post up some more.
"http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=5201667" Edit -- Ahh, I see what it's doing. It is truncating the link. Maybe if you're signed in when you select the link (?) I removed the [/url] tag from the code above to make it text. Copy from http: all the way to the end then post it in Internet Exploder / Safari and it should open. Not the quotes .. |
