1985 Long bed to short bed. Whats really needed. Just brake lines?

If I convert a 85 long bed to short bed, I am thinking All I need is DS shortened and the brake line
for a short bed truck. So is it really only 2 things I need?

I know the cut measurements and everything else. Just looking for what needs to be replaced so I can order the hard parts. DS would be the last thing to get cut. Thanks

I will be doing a 1985 silverado build, and a DETAILED (because no one has done it) video on how to shorten a 73/87 C10 on my youtube channel.

From fleetside to stepper:D

I asked the same question and didn't really get a response.

I was under the impression that if you had a 20 gal tank, you would also have to change it to the 16 gal tank, but don't quote me on that.

Yes. Most long beds had 20 gallon tanks. Some of them got 16 gallon tanks instead. A 20 gallon tank will not fit in a shortbed truck.

If you have a 20 gallon tank, you'll need a 16 gallon tank to take its place. The tank brackets can be reused, but you'll likely want new mounting bolts. If you're buying a new tank, go ahead and buy a new sender unit to go with it. The fuel filler hose and/or neck needs to be changed. I don't know about the fuel lines.

If your stepside doesn't have one with it, the fuel filler hose is different and hard to find. I am not sure anyone reproduces them for the stepside beds, least none that I can fine.

Just my recommendation, but do yourself a favour and get two 16 gal tanks, and get a switch for your dash and whatnot. Might as well, since you have access to everything. My SWB has only one tank and I can't take a relatively short roadtrip without stopping once or twice to fill.

Or while the bed is off convert to a rear mount 31 gallon Blazer thank and ditch the side tanks and switching.
