cd player
how can you get your cd player to remember your settings on these old cars on my 72 C10 tried everything and it wont keep my settings like I like

Re: cd player
It sounds like you don't have the memory wire(yellow on an aftermarket player) hooked up to a constant 12V source.
Red needs to go to a source that is switched to only provide power with the ignition on or in accessory, yellow to a source with constant 12v regardless of key position. If it is wired correctly, then it is most likely a problem with the player. |
Re: cd player
I got it wired like that and still nothing

Re: cd player

Re: cd player
I would double check your wiring to be sure that the yellow wire receives constant 12v, even with the switch off, sounds like it is hooked to a wire that has power cut with the ign switch.

Re: cd player
like he said above, some vehicles cut power to acc when you turn the key to start
this turns off the power to blowers and accessories when your starting hook up a test light to your memory wire and see that it stays on when you go to start position |

Re: cd player
I checked every wire I could...and its tied in with the red wire which is weird and my quess is it shouldnt be

Re: cd player
That's your problem. Re read our responses. The first reply to your question had the answer. The yellow wire MUST be constant 12v, must have power when the key is off or on. That is the memory wire that retains all of your settings, if power is cut to it when the key is off, you lose everything. The red wire is just the wire that tells the radio to turn on.

Personally I do not like piggybacking off another fuse, these old truck's wiring harnesses are stressed enough as it is, I prefer to run a wire directly from the battery to a second fuse panel and run power for accessories such as this radio off of that, keep in mind you are running a ~200w radio off a power source designed for a ~30w radio :waah: |
