So it seems that these trucks are sort of hard to find. I hope that the parts aren't. I got into it without doing much research because it is just too cool.

There should be nothing on that truck that's too big of a challenge to find. There's a pile of 88-91 Suburbans out there just waiting to give up interior, dash, drivetrain and front sheetmetal if you wan't to go that route.

If you go on autotrader/ebay and search for 1988 Chevy truck four door nothing pops up. I did see that there are a lot of yards though with parts however in my neck of the woods as soon as a Chevy truck hits the "you pull it yards" they are stripped clean. Like you said though I don't see it to be a problem now though.

I need to get new door gaskets...any suggestions?

type in 87. You will get a lot more results. Almost all the parts will be the same. They kept the crew cab going until 91, even when the reg/ext cabs changed in 88.

True.

Erase the number 88 from your memory and replace it with 87. Your options will greatly expand.

I still stand by my 88-91 Suburban suggestion. A gigantic majority of them were power window/lock trucks and most Suburbans are pampered condition compared to four door work trucks. The doors alone make parting out a 'burb a worthwhile avenue to take. You get doors and seats and dash and all front sheetmetal.

So the plan is to bedliner the bed and the cab.

I removed the rubber mat and tore out the installation but found caulking that seems to separate sections of the floor. Should I remove this caulking or put the bedliner over it? I will have pics of all this when I get home.

Assuming your truck is a 2wd, they'd fit. But you take a screwing buying stuff like that from Borthers. Mechanical parts are best bought at parts suppliers not specialty shops like a Brothers.

I just looked up coil springs at Rockauto and found a good selection for 90-95 dollars. That's real savings there.

Door seals are easy to get. There are many places that have them. They are the same seals for a Crew Cab from 81-91 and the Suburban those same years.

Get a LMC Catalog for the 73-87 trucks and suburbans. They will have everything you need in it. Take the time to search on the net for deals. LMC can have some of the higher prices. Try places like RockAuto.com for the seals.
I looked them up and pasted them here:

First off, if your truck is a 2wd, it's an R30, not a V30. That's a critical thing to remember when shopping for parts.

I went to Rockauto and catalogued an 87 R30 truck when I looked them up. You'll go down to suspension and then choose coil springs, and there's a pile of them to select from. Just make sure you read each part description carefully because some are for light suspension, some heavy suspension, some dual wheels, etc. I'd assume you're shooting for heavy duty on your truck so focus on the F42 suspension or whatever it is.

If you're wanting uber heavy duty, the Moog part with F42 suspension and the "super duty" option looks good.

Also , here is my discount code at Rockauto. Use it as much as you like. 2316502721314303
