Wiper Cowl Removal

Can I remove the wiper cowl panel without removing the hood or fenders? I want to clean and lube my wiper linkage.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yes,

pop the hood first. There should be about 4 phillip head screws under the rubber gasket for the hood holding it in place.

Then 4 more smaller phillip heads at the grille area of the cowl take those out.

Take both wipers off and washer nozzles hose loose.

Then open each door there is a 1/2" head bolt staring at you take them out they are Hortzonal.

There are also 2 that are straight in front of those 2 toward the front of the cowl which are vertical.

That's it you can lift it off but be carefull you will want some one to help you.

Highly recommend getting a windshield wiper arm removal tool. Under 10 bucks at the local auto parts store, and makes the job real easy. I think mine was made by Lisle, and was a round 7.99.

While you can do quite a bit of cleaning while you are in the cowl area, you cannot really get at all the areas that tend to rust, as there is more sheet metal to remove. Easy to lube the wipers as you planned.
