New Tahoe

I did a thing and got a relatively low mileage base model. It was apparently a government truck for the City of Austin, TX. Runs like a top and I find the L31 engine to be pretty impressive.
Base model is pretty spartan inside but I like the idea of having fewer things to break. Rear end is a 3:42 open diff. It’s a little noisy but I drained it las night and the oil looked pretty good. |
Re: New Tahoe
Very nice looking one. What kind of plans do you have for it?

Re: New Tahoe
I like the fact that it’s a base model. Very bare bones with crank windows, etc. I’m going to keep it close to original but probably put some later model 18” wheels, and replace the vinyl floor mat with carpet and sound deadening mat. Replacing the steering wheel because it’s crumbling apart.
First up I need to get the rear end sorted. |
Re: New Tahoe
Grey interior?
2-doors are getting harder to find, and base models even more so! |
Re: New Tahoe
Blue interior!

Re: New Tahoe
Awesome! Even better!

Re: New Tahoe
I’m thinking about 15” rallies if they will clear the brakes.
|
Re: New Tahoe
Shouldn't be a problem.

Re: New Tahoe
They will clear fine. I had a 92 way back when, I put the 8" rally's on it, looked sweet. Truck was maroon with dark grey bottom half, so painted the wheels black. Had 32x11.5s on it, didn't rub, looked great...

Which lug nuts do I need for rallies? The modern capped nuts seem like they don’t seem deeply enough.

Re: New Tahoe
I think I used the longer chrome covered ones or whatever there called...

Re: New Tahoe
Probably metric, Rockauto has long chrome $1 each....Dorman 713685
