55-59 step side aftermarket tailgate quality
 

He guys I am in need of a new tailgate for my 57 3100 step side I have been looking for them nearby but I'm coming up dry for almost anything usable within 200 miles.

So that brings me to my question what is the quality of these aftermarket tailgates I am seeing from brothers,LMC and on EBAY I imagine all of these things are coming from the same Chinese factory but theres some surprising differences in prices (230-400) depending on where it is.

I don't care to cut up this bolt on part if I don't have to and I also don't want to pay to much for the same product (every dollar counts)

have heard nothing but good and read many rave reviews on Mar-K out of Oklahoma City. Many of the resellers get theirs from them so why not buy direct from the manufacturer. If I decide on new bedsides that is who I will use.

I got mine from mar-k with side links to eliminate the chains and the inside lathches. The quality is top notch and I would recomend them to all.

got my tail gate from Mar-k, very pleased with it !!!
First one was damaged in shipment, they made good on it with no problems.
Good group of people to deal with.

Thanks guys Mar-K it is then didn't even cross my mind for them

Also thanks for the picture my bed got a little hacked up in the back someone decided to remove the stakes with what appears to have been an oxy rose bud tip needless to say its bad... :/

Do the mar-k come with the stealth latch kit already fitted or did you fit that yourself?

I saw on his website a 'no chain' option but couldn't see if it came with the latch kit

you can order them with stealth latches already installed and the side links if you want them. They give you the option to get it the way you want.

You can get the tailgate with the prep work already done for the stealth latch and the scissor arm, for the little bit difference in money it's worth it

defanitly looks worth it 395 for the gate and prep done for the hidden latches if anyone needs it the part number I am finding for steel hardware is 102892 :chevy:

same tailgate from 54 to mid 80s, they better have good tooling to make them :D
