Got her running. I had to syphon the old gas out. Swap on a different carb I had stored away. I had to jump the wiring to get it to turn over.
And now she's running great. I even drove her up and down our road a few times.

Gave her good pressure washing today.
I forgot to take a pic, but the almond paint comes off pretty easy. That's okay, I don't want to own a pretty truck. I have a few mechanical things I need to button down, but other than that, this 66 will be my truck for a few years so I can take my time doing upgrades to my 65.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

I know I change ideas and directions quite often, but it's because I have a constant struggle with what I think would be cool to do, and what is practical. I really have no need for a service truck anymore. I already have a fleetside bed that I acquired a few years ago, so I'm going to sell the service box and put the fleetside bed on this 66. Then, because it already has the mechanical upgrades, I'm going to keep this 66 to use as a truck while I tear down my 65 and do all the upgrades I've been wanting to do to it for several years, but didn't want to tear her down for fear I'd need her.

It looks like you've got a great project ahead of you. I'll keep in touch.

I'm pretty impressed with how everything mechanically is good after sitting for 5 years out in that field. I spent the last couple weeks buttoning down a few odds and ends. I just need to get new tags and then I can start driving it.

It's kinda sad because I had some cool ideas for the box, but I sold the box today.
Hopefully I'll get the fleetside bed mounted on the truck next weekend.

Something I hadn't considered is that my 66 frame doesn't have the stands on the frame to mount the bed sills. I've been kinda banging around the idea of building a wood flatbed and then setting these boxes on either side. I know.... It's ugly.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

I like the flatbed idea.

Thanks guys.
I don't need a full on service box, but I do like having dedicated storage space in the bed.
I want to keep the bed low like this, but with storage boxes on the side.

Hey, the plan changed again. I got this beat up bed for free, so I'm installing it. The main goal for this 66 is to use it for truck stuff so I can finish all I want to do with my 65.

Re: My 66 Service Truck Build Thread

That will work! Keep em rolling is the key!
