Evil Thoughts - (1980 c10 stepper)
. Well I have been posting random pics of my build, but finnaly have some time to make a build thread... EVIL THOUGHTS 1980 c10 stepside (which started as just a truck to drive to work) maybe paint it black add a seat cover and clean it up a LITTLE... started as a CL find for $2,400 and looked like this http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07285.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07289.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07288.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07287.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07290.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07292.jpg Oh what did I get my self into???? . |
Re: Evil Thoughts - (1980 c10 stepper)
a few weeks into body and paint: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07359.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07358.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07357.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07356.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07354.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07360.jpg I had them shave off the beds stake pockets, the holes at the ends of the bed both the back and the fronts you can see when the beds on... but I would know they weren't done and it would bug the hell out of me.. lol also the hole sof rthe old tail lights. I left the chains.. I know a lot of people get rid of them but to me part of what makes a stepper a stepper is those chains... the side mirrors, handles and all emblems are gone also... and a few days of work on the bed wood... simple but took for ever... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07362.jpg I used oak kit with Minwax "English Chestnut" and a Cabot Gloss Spar Varnish. 2 coats of stain, 4 coats of varnish (all sides, inside holes) sanded 220 between coats, finish by having the guys that are painting my truck buff and polish. . |
Re: Evil Thoughts - (1980 c10 stepper)
I've ordered all new.... everything... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07415.jpg new trim, seals, glass . |
Re: Evil Thoughts - (1980 c10 stepper)
went with black with a hint of red interior,,, http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07448.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07449.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07453.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...-Copy-Copy.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...07457-Copy.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07458.jpg you can see the theme I ran with... most see "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" to me... don't see anything, don't hear anything, and never say anything.. (mind your own business) |
Re: Evil Thoughts - (1980 c10 stepper)
I was going to go with the brushed aluminum bezel cover, but after seeing how the air brushing came out on the other trim I think I might have them paint the bezel to match... I used fiber glass to patch a few spots and then went over everything with bondo then sanded for about a year.... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...07426-Copy.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07425.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07464.jpg I sanded off all the edges and rounded the edge leading to the gauges... it was kinda of a pain cleaning up the blinker holes.. a little more work left on it still I still need to re-drill the mounting holes.. more pics to come.. . |

Tonight wired up a pair of those little light bulb/license plate bolt thingies from LMC. which are pretty straight forward. Until you decide it would be cool for your rear plate to disappear at the push pf a button... I bought a motorized remote plate hider off amazon, then had to mount the bolt/lights through it. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07465.jpg looks like it's more work than it really was... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...9/DSC07467.jpg The two outer wires go to a running light source, I just need to keep them away so they don't bind up when the plate slides in and out. The center wire leads to the units "brain" which has two wires (pos/neg) to hook up. I'll have to extend the wires running to the brain unit. This kit was made for a front plate. I plan on tucking the brain under the hood to keep it out of the weather. Ill post some pics when it comes time to mount it... hope to hell it works... the plate kit alone was $130ish... . |
