Has anybody wrapped??

I have a customer that has ordered a truck and what she said was 60-72. I of course have the 67-72 stuff that I am working on, she wants a patina type truck but the problem with that is I have been working on fenders doors and bedsides and the like in off times for a while I have tons of primed ready to paint parts, so her ideas of a patina are problematic for me. I did think of a wrap and she owns a sweet shop that sell all types of candies and one of her ad things is gumballs, so I thought a wrap to look like gumballs might be an idea. Has anyone wrapped their truck what kind of money did the wrap cost? We are supposed to get together in the next few days to work out really what she is looking for [IE LS vs old school small block] things of that nature. she had one back in the day she said but it was long and that is one thing she does not want it has to be short. Thanks for your help if you can provide any. Jim

A wrap on the Race Car is $1000. Simple flat panels mostly

I am curious about a wrap also. My 03 Tahoe has failing clear coat but no rust so I was wondering about wrapping it. Cost wise and longevity of it. Obviously it's not something you would go to a body and paint shop for so who does it? My truck is high mileage so I won't spend for a paint job.

A few of the sign companies around here do vehicle wraps.

We had a couple of Suburbans go through the body shop several years ago. We did some minor body repairs before they got wrapped by another vendor. They were around $2200 each for the wrap jobs. Which was considerably cheaper than doing the same custom work in paint. The vendor did warn the owners to only expect a 5 year lifespan on the wraps.

If you drive a lot of miles, companies will pay you after putting their brand on your vehicle.

Just did a dune buggy. They have a lot of curves. It was not easy but it made me believe I could do a car or truck if it suited me. I bought it from an outfit named Metro Styling. Cost about 250 and had some left over. Dune buggies are rather small. I’m sure a truck would take four times as much.

Darn iPad makes photos flip , sorry.

Jeff

Can't really help with your question but do have some input. If she plans on changing the graphics every couple of years a wrap makes sense. But if its a one time thing I would steer her to paint. A third option would be to paint it and then put a stripe of gumball graphics down the sides and tailgate. Like pictured above. Keep us posted I would like to hear what her plan is, Good Luck

Sunshine thats funny I like your wrapping. I have not even heard back from her, been working on another truck anyway I guess I 'll get on it soon. I've stopped everything to work on the 68 LeMans that has been sitting in the back of the shop to get her running again I think it is time for her to go. Jim

Thanks, Hugger, it was fun. The DEI wrap kept underhood heat way down, looked cool, and was eerily quiet, especially in underground parking garages. The human ear barely heard the rumble, but all the alarms on the little BMWs would bark as she rolled by. Lasted 7 years in Arizona.
But do as I say and not as I do, and never wrap your headers, unless you're racing. Reasons: 1]Voids lifetime header warranty. 2] Moisture gets trapped in the weave and slowly rusts the piping.
Here's a shot of my old hedders after the drivers side blew out...
