Wheel well alignment
1 Attachment(s)
while putting in a new motor/trans and re-wiring I decided to replace the crappy wheel wells in my '69 K10.
the driver side was a bit of a struggle but went it pretty good. Just some minor bending and hole enlarging. however, the PS is giving me fits. Core support is in, grill is not, bolts connecting the fender to core support are loose but attached. I have the two top bolts loosely installed and the bolt to the firewall support installed after much massaging and the fender edge bolts on the back of the wheel well are close enough to work with but the front looks like this picture. Is it time to cut some material from the old WW and weld it to the new one? I am NOT restoring the body on this truck but cannot see driving it with a gap like this in the WW. Any thoughts on where to go next? I can weld, its mig though not tig. |

are those repop inner fenders?

Re: Wheel well alignment
I recently purchased a reproduction passenger side inner fender for my truck and was very happy with the fitment. No holes needed enlarging and with a little encouragement all the bolts went in pretty easy. I was ready for a fight based on what I’ve seen others post.
I ordered mine through Jegs but cannot remember the maker. I’d have to look that up. |

Re: Wheel well alignment
thats probably where the issue is...repop is kinda hit and miss on fit...most of the time its a miss

Re: Wheel well alignment
Went back and checked my Jegs order. The one I got was part number 189-IF07-67R and fit pretty better than I expected. Had to encourage it a bit in a few spots but didn't require enlarging any holes. Says it was a Gold Star reproduction.

I've added some metal and massaged some holes and have my PS WW installed. Now gonna add some paint and see if it's not too embarrassing of a patch job to post a picture. either way, it's in. Time to button up all the new wiring and its much closer to being road worthy.... |
