Re: front end overhaul ?

I would have to say, if it comes from Autozone, it is no good. The only thing I would ever buy from there is penzoil and fram filters, just my 2 cents

Re: front end overhaul ?

carquest can get you decent aftermarket parts...but you have to ask for the better stuff.

Re: front end overhaul ?

try PST they have kits that have upper and lower balljoints, upper and lower control arm bushings(rubber or poly graphite),outer tie rods and sway bar bushings. They are a pretty good deal. www.p-s-t.com

I recommend using MOOG parts if you plan to keep the truck a while :D

Re: front end overhaul ?

I work at AZ. If I remember right the Rare Parts ball joints have zerk (sp?) fittings on them so you can lube them. They cost way more than the regular Duralast.

Everything comes from the same place just packaged differnt. Well, maybe just the house brands.

The Mooge are O'Reilly's high end parts and the Rare Parts are AZ high end parts.

I don't care.... I'm broke (LOW DOUGH) so I will be putting on the Duralast with a discount. It will work just fine.

Re: front end overhaul ?

PST is mail order you get it dropped off at your front door. I have the polygraphite in my 79 Burb. 5 years, no problems!

Re: front end overhaul ?

pocketpool... not knowing how many parts you are wanting to replace, but I know that ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) offers a complete MOOG front end rebuild kit for like $575. Which is fairly comparable to O'Reilly's prices the last time that I checked. Even though you have to tack on shipping check with Stan at ECE and sometimes they can make you a deal you can't turn down.

Here's a link to their catalog, just click on the drop down box and select "Front End Rebuild Components," and it's the second item from the top... LINK

Re: front end overhaul ?

Before you head to OReilly's, be sure to call them up, because I priced a 4/6 kit with Stan, and it came less than $30 more than the asking price with shipping!

I priced everything in the past, like last year, and it came to over $600 for the MOOG parts.

I went with Moog myself, good quality stuff!

I got all my Moog parts from amazon, you have to know part numbers to find any of it but I saved a lot of money.

Re: front end overhaul ?

I've been working at Advance Auto Parts for yrs and we carry Moog and TRW chassi parts. They both are quality parts and if what you need isnt in stock they should be able to have it next day. I just finished a complete 5 lug drop spindle rebuild on our Project. But I need a 1 1/4 swaybar!!

Re: front end overhaul ?

I buy A LOT of stuf from Amazon. I saved about $300 over the local autopart stores.

Re: front end overhaul ?

the only problem i see with ordering the front end stuff online is the warranty. oreilly's said lifetime warranty on all moog stuff, i think its a little easier to return stuff to the store, if you ever had to that is.

pocketpool 10-01-2008 09:59 AM

Re: front end overhaul ?

i priced all the stuff at oreilly's. all moog.

upper ball joint 59.99
lower ball joint 33.99

upper shaft kit 54.99
lower shaft kit 73.99

tie rod inner 21.99
tie rod outer 30.99

idler arm 43.99
pit man 90.99

if my math is correct = $686.86
and i forgot tie rod sleeves. so looks
like ECE is a great deal.

Re: front end overhaul ?

What about this place. I posted a question about Polyurethane bushings and I got a reply to check out this place and get poly graphite. This seems pretty reasonable to me. what do you think.

Re: front end overhaul ?

that kit only comes with the control arm bushings, the moog is the whole shaft kit.
