barn door inside handle?

what went in this hole?? every door i see is missing this handle.

No handle there from the factory, just the cover plate.

Yep, however you would think there would be a handle there, but I've never seen one myself

You can see the plate hanging down in the picture you posted. If the plate isn't installed you can put your hand inside the door and open it easily from the inside.
