13 April - Updated list for Parting out 1964 C10 SBSS

Withdrawn - got tired of checkin the prices I couldn't remember and updatein the add and changed it all to make offer. Was reminded its a rules violation to switch over to make an offer. Rather than list a bunch of meaningless prices, I'll rest a bit from parts managment and drive my new truck. If I get energetic or see a need on the board, I'll post up parts for sale at a price or better, just holler at ya via PM. :)

Right front outer fender is a welder special, need outer patch at lower rear and some repair to the bracket so you can thread a new bolt into the lower inner rear. There is a dent from the wreck in the upper front that could be smacked out and puttied. Overall, I'd rate this RF outer fender as serviceable as is for a rat rod...potentially useable for a daily driver with some welding, not useable for a restoration unless you have excellent skills.

RF inner fender appears to be damn nice. I don't recall any rust thru anywhere but can take a closer look if you like.

Consider it on hold. I have your 63 Spare tire carrier to return. Looks like its not going to be needed. So, back home to you.

Ive got a rust free driver side inner, so it'll be nice to have a solid pass side donar. I have a donar, but has worse pitting than id like in one area. Thanks, and ill bring $ Friday.

No Worries. See ya friday. Cigars and perhaps if tags arrive we can run John Lee Jr a bit further than just around the neighborhood. 3 60s models sittin in the drive on a Friday evening and someone's gonna get worried about an invasion of some kind. Should be fun!

Ill be in the newer chevy. The 63 is fixing to get a clutch installed. Hate the dreaded "s" word, but it slipped a little the other day. Its my weekend project.

Too bad mine is a 283 (11" diameter assembly). I believe your I6 is a 10". Ol John Lee has a 4000 mile new clutch/pressureplate, new throwout bearing, new fork and resurfaced flywheel in the bell houseing.

1963c-10 03-27-2013 10:47 AM

Re: Parting out 1964 C10 SBSS

I believe I can use any 10-11" clutch assembly. Also....I need a bellhousing for my BB swap. What do you want for the clutch assembly you described above? ....Ill just bring cash and talk $ on friday....easier than all this typing. the 11" clutch was the HD clutch. Just have to have the matching flywheel 153/68, and I can use it. So hold that too.

Re: Parting out 1964 C10 SBSS

Come on up Friday. We'll have to pull the mess, but its been out in Sept of 12 so nothiong too tight and no broken bolts are predicted. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours to pull it and if it suits you, we'll look at the pile of odds and ends you need and and you make an offer.

Bell houseing could be a delay as I have no way to lift the motor out or place to put it but worst case we'll block it up with some wood for now or delay a bit on recovering the bell if you want it.

I'll start working out the levers and bolts on the trans tonight and look for some bar or junk to hold up the ass end of the motor. Just need to keep the frame as a roller till the cab buyer makes it by so I can roll out to his trailer and winch it off and over.

Re: Parting out 1964 C10 SBSS

No worries. I figure the engines butt can sit on a strap or two across the frame and I'll start rippin into the trannie this evening. Might be outta there by Friday. If not, you get to bird dog tools on friday night. I'll get it figured out....Prolly tell my wife to stand by case I drop the trans on my chest!!!!!

Re: Parting out 1964 C10 SBSS

Last time I pulled a trans under a car was a TH350 in a 62 Impala...two of us wrestled it out onto our chests and the wrestled a TCI back up in all w/o jacks. What a goat rope that was. Lots of cussin.

The 63 chevy dealer book shows it 1.8hr labor I beleive. Last one I did took about 3-4hr start to finish on my back in the dirt alone.

Here is the Vent Window Drivers Side. Both sides in equal condition. I'll get after the ash tray in a moment, its on the bottom of the pile, it was the first out cause it was easy and I didn't have to think too much, lotsa practice emptyin it.

40 minutes, nothing broken, including me. Engine so loose I can turn it with my hand. Pulled flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, fork, boot and throw out bearing and all the bolts/nuts for ya. Flywheel was very lightly surfaced...not real please with my mech right now. It engages smooth though and the clutch is fine as froghairs and oil free...measured it at 11" dia.

As indicated, gage cluster held pending cab buyers look see. If its available I'll holler at ya. Speedo and fuel work. Speedo a bit slow to start...sorta jumps up to 15 then smoothe from there. I assumed that was the cable.

Assuming its 10 lbs and 28"x2"x12 inchs, shipping is nearly $37 via parcel post. I'll have to check out other options for anything that dosn't fit in usps flat rate boxes. Tint? It looks like normal greenish glass to me...is that what ya mean?

Vent window is clear glass, just checked in good light. Marking at handle is PPG Safety Solid Temper. (It was the windshield that is greenish and has the blue/black tint at top)
