Chevy Apache body to 99-07 4x4 frame
Hey there, I'm looking for some information on a body swap. I can get a great deal on an 03 gmc reg cab long box 4x4. The only problem with the truck is the body is shot. So what I'd like to do is get 1958-59 chev or gmc apache and swap it on to the frame of the newer truck.
if anyone has any info on this swap or has ever done it any information would be greatly appreciated. |

Can you weld and trust your life on your welding skills?A easier swap would be http://www.e-zchassisswaps.com/kit.php?category=5

I can weld and I'd really like to do it with a newer truck. I like the idea of a modern drive train and suspension, I can also get one for dirt cheap.

You will have to shorten the frame to the wheel base of the older truck,Make every body mount and bed mount and make the core support work. And thats just getting the body on the frame. Its a really big job not many have done it because of that.

Also compare the frame width. I've got a 59 chev stepside I was considering putting on a 93 4x4 frame. The 93 frame was quite a bit wider so as an example would not fit between the steps on the bed. Looked to be a lot more fabrication than I had in mind so I scrapped the idea.
