i borrowed a crane form a guy that goes to my church to put the 454 on the stand, when i was rolling it down teh ramp out my truck it tiped over and the piston came out of the ram and the fluid spilled out, i got some valvvoline hydrolic oil but dont know where to put it in, its got the screw thing at the bottom thatyou tighten and loosen to let it down, but how do i out it in there? do i just pust teh arm all teh way up and put it in the top of the cyllinder where it came out? how much do i put in, can i test to see how much is enough? i dont want to put too much in and blo the gaskets, that would suck., this looks like a pretty expensive piece of equiptment. thanks for any help, sean

There is a screw or rubber plug about halfway up the cylinder. Remove it and fill it up the same way you do a rearend, till the oil is level with the hole. The best way I have found to put oil in one is to take a piece of paper and roll it up to make a funnel because the hole is so small it is hard to pour oil in it. Good Luck.

I have added to large bottle jacks through the valve you are refering too...just put in a little at a time, na dtest the hoist with something heavy. (like youe engine) If it tries to lift it, but not quite, then add more.
Make sure you bleed it my haviung the valve open and jacking it, trying to lift it up. Then close the valve and lift.
