Disc brakes
 

Hey I got found some disc brakes. He says they are 71-86 1/2Ton Chevy Rotors, spindles, calipers, proportional valve, and master cylinder for $75.00. I have a 70 model with drums. Im guessing they are for a van being those years but I need to know if they will work and if this is a good deal. They look very original meaning they have not been turned in 30 years.

While that is not too bad of a price, I beleive you need the center link, inner & outer tie rods, tie rod adjuster sleeves, and upper & lower ball joints. Also what shape are those rotor in? You don't want to buy them if they aren't in new condition. I would price a whole cross member with the brake booster & master cyc. It should be easier to swap out as a whole, if you can find one in good cond.

Woody is right, It will be much easier to do a complete swap. I just put disc brakes on my 70, I had a complete 72 for the swap. It saved me from the big parts search. Anything bolted to the frame of a 72 will bolt to a 70 with no problems, as long as it's a complete swap.

is it required to have the engine out for that swap?

Go with the complete change over. I put the fr xmember from a 75 1/2 tn under my 68. You can completely refurb the assembly and then bolt it in. You have to drill one hole on the frame on each side. It is a lot easier to do with the engine out. Heck, you have to clean up the engine compartment anyway. Get a hold of me if you have any questions.
