High School Build IV (Tyler)

We are starting truck #4
I hope everyone has seen our other three builds - they are in my signature

This build brings me great sorrow as well as great joy.

This truck build is in honor of "Tyler Bell"

I had Tyler in school during build #1. He was the leader of the build - he was with me from start to finish, and he loved working on these old trucks. During the build he always said we need to build a 4x4 instead of this low rider junk.

After graduation he pursued his career in his passion of trucks and went to Nashville Auto Diesel College where he graduated and went on to work as a diesel technician

As a result of his passion for trucks he purchased a 72 4wd and another parts truck. He and his farther started the process of building his dream truck.

However on 2-25-17 Tyler was involved in a tragic accident that took his life as well as three of his close friends

A few days after the accident his father called me asked if I would be interested in the trucks to build at school - and I said sure.

The truck is a 1/2 ton 72 4wd long bed - my plans is to build it with a 6.0 Ls and probably a 4L80e. I may keep it long bed - but a short bed would look cooler

So I hope to build something that Tyler would have been proud of.

So everyone tag along as we perform this build

"Tyler" - this one is for you

Definitely in for this one, I'm sorry to hear of the tragedy :(

Looking forward to seeing how this one comes together, it will have a lot deeper value to it than the others

Here is Tyler's sister - Ashley (we nicknamed her "Sandy")

She done all the bondo and body work on last years truck, and done a great job. Now she is pursuing her career in Autobody at Ohio Technical College.

I need her back to teach the body work - because we may have to paint this truck and I HATE body work

Looking forward to the future in spite of its tragic start. I'm betting this one will be the best one yet.

This is a tragic story and a cool way to keep his memory alive. I think a Diesel engine may be a better fit than the LS, but understand that could get pricey. Awesome you are taking this on.

I like the rotisserie that is used for these builds.
You have had it for awhile now.
Great work so far:metal:

What a tragic situation. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss but I give a big shout out to you for doing this for him and his family. I also think a diesel would be better suited. Even if you did a simple 6.2/TH400/NP205 it would be easy and keep the cost down low and honor him better. IMO.

I'm with Dieselwrencher on both accounts, tragic story I'm sorry to hear. And I also think a Diesel sounds like the engine he would have picked. Either way, its great to hear your doing this tribute to him and I'm along for the ride :chevy:

I watched your eBay listing, you got a good price out of that truck, I now understand why these trucks are getting jacked all the time and guys are afraid to daily driver them... It's worth it, you guys did a fantastic job.
