1969 C-50 4x4 build starting.

5 Attachment(s)
Just starting my build.

69 C50 i picked up along with a c10 long bed. Close in color.

Im going to cut the frame down and put a Dana 60/14bot C&C rear end in.

Its getting adpaters and 22.5 wheels with 37 inch tires (just highway stuff)

Not sure what engine to use
I have a 350/sm465/205 in the k3500 donor that is unknown, The 292 ci four speed in the truck that runs and a 5.3L 4l60E (both are 100 percent ready to rip). I have a divorced np205 so not and issues trans wise. None are great. I would love a Cummins or an 8.1L

BTW the c50 and the k3500 everything im not using is for sale. No title on the 3500 cab. c50 axles wheels tires so one. Dump bed is up for grabs.. everything cheap cheap.

Located in Clarkston MI

May be interested in the dump works, not the bed.

It's a PTO off the sm456. What all would you want?

Re: 1969 C-50 4x4 build starting.

Ok so i decided on an engine.

P-Pump 6bt with 150k
Backed up with a 2wd 47rh (no computer needed, yes it has a PCM but 2 switches fix that)
Finished up with a divorced 205

So small issue. If you measure the space I have (Fire wall to core support) versus how the engine sits now (f700 core to back of motor) there's 15 inches  more on the engine side.

So a lot to figure out there. Shorting, eFan maybe, Cutting, combo of all of it.

The f700 rad is very close to the same size so i think I'm going to try it. Put the inter cooler in front and see if i cant gain a few inches there.

If anyone has any insight please let me know. I'm not afraid to cut cut cut. Also someone come buy the old axles and wheels/tires. I don't want to scarp them but don't need them ether.

Yep keep us posted on the fitment there. I was in the same boat going with a Cummins and MD trans but the length of that 6bt was what concerned me. I was lucky enough to find a frame prepped to take a Duramax and Allison combo, along with a view of the minimal firewall work required to get them to fit, so I am going that route now.
Have you been able to determine if the front axle will fit? Do you see any issues with steering geometry or clocking the wheels left to right? I am wanted to convert to 4wd myself but wanted to make sure of my parts list beforehand.

Also a side note, there are a few shops on ebay that run the 10 lug Alcoa (semi truck) style wheels but have them turned down to be 22" or 19" based on your preference. Instead of having the need to run 8 to 10 lug adapters, I was looking at the 22" wheels as that size allows for vastly more tire options (All/Mud Terrain) as opposed to the commercial 22.5" sizing ($$$). Just a thought.

i talked with another member on here ( his name escapes me, Its a red truck with white wheels) He tossed a 6bt with efans and a NV4500 with only trimming. So I'm going to see how that works. He had to change the tunnel for trans but hes riding pretty low where i don't think ill have that issue. I wouldnt mind dropping the whole drive train down for better angles. Steering wise i have the c50 box. the f700 box and the c3500 box so something has to work.
