I found this under the cowl. Just sitting there loose, passenger side.

I'm assuming some kind of air flap?? Just not sure where it's supposed to go, if it's still serviceable or if I need it. I have a AC truck btw.

Here's an old thread that may help.

From the assembly manual.

You do need it. I discovered mine was broken off and missing (no idea how that happened!) when we were resurrecting my long-dead factory A/C. Without that part, warm air was being introduced into the airbox.

Well that diagram is clear as mud. Haha. So it goes back under the cowl, and attaches to the a/c diaphram thingy. I'm sure I'm missing something (nuts etc).

I have no plans to resurrect the AC anytime soon. Just leave it off for now and pull the cowl off later to add it back in?? Or should i figure out a way to get it back in now to plug the hole til ready to deal with AC??

Dunno about other suppliers.... that is LMC #32-0790 if it helps. Here's a drawing of the part as well as the vacuum actuator that controls it. Little different view than the assembly manual so it might help. Yours appears to be broken, on the right side in your pic, across from the spring.

No need to fool with it until you do the A/C, unless you just want to get it done ahead of time. BTW there is a return spring not shown in the drawing (#2 in the assembly manual drawing). I found one at Ace Hardware that works fine, and there are threads showing that spring and where to connect it.

Thanks! Yep those pics are better. Looks like a new replacement is $30. No biggie in the scheme of things. I’m not gonna mess with it for now.

Glad to help. And when you're ready to do it, here's a thread about that spring I mentioned.
