6.0 in front of a sm465???
 

Just curious if anyone has tried this and if so how did you like it?

I bought my 72 K20 for the drive train but will more than likely swap out the 350 sometime in the future for an LS. And if I'm going the LS route might as well make it the 6.0.

I'm not even sure there is an adapter to mount the two together. Just looking if anyone has done or thought about doing it. As for the rpms, I would be putting a gear splitter behind the 205 to keep it nice on the highway.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I started to go that route but decided instead to go with a nv4500 behind my 6.0..

I did a swap for a customer and we used an advanced adapter kit. It was in a 84 c20. Worked out great. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=731926

Other then wishing he had overdrive it’s great. It’s his daily driver. Probably puts 50+ miles on it a day.

od is precisely why I went with a nv4500 instead of keeping my sm465...I've got 4.10s and I'm very glad to have to od

The truck we did the swap on had 4.10s too. He came from a 350 to 5.3 with a cam and almost doubled his mpg. He is looking at a gear vendors unit now.

haha...I bet...I can run mine in 4th which is the same as 4th in the 465...and I can tell from that I'm glad for the od...but it runs great in 4th and has a lot of pep in 4th..I didn't double my mpg but I did gain about 4-5mpgs
