2015 Duramax DEF - warranty

I get my 2015 2500HD back today after the dealer diagnosed and fixed a dripping leak of DEF. The only other repair of the DEF was a recall about 3 years ago on the DEF tank heater - same GM dealer.

This time the DEF tank, pump and any associated parts are being replaced. I kinda thot the GM emission warranty might cover it (truck has 50K mileage) but it did not.

The total repair bill is around $1700 of which I owe $200 of it. When I bought the truck new I also purchased an 5 year extended premier warranty (total 96 mos.) at the dealer for $1750 -- Allstate. I just got back about 2/3 of that investment. Warranty runs out July 2023.

I usually would not have purchased this extended warranty but when I bought the truck I traded a 2005 C6. About 2 weeks before I traded, the EBCM went out and it cost me $2100 out of pocket to fix the C6. So......

I may/probably will buy an extend warranty on my wife's new Yukon when the sale is finalized.

If you have a newer emissions diesel and plan to keep it for a long time, I'd recommend getting an extended warranty of some kind. Make sure to ask what repairs it covers. It isn't if those systems fail but when. The parts aren't cheap at all and can really hurt your pocket book.

well im gonna chime in on this one. I work for century automotive, an extended warranty company ( one of the better ones.)
lemme tell you what to look for.
On the Yukon definatly get a comprehensive or level 4 or platinum warranty.
when buying the contract you want to see if these a cap on the labor rate per hour (thats where they get you) ours is 165.00 per hour
car shield is 75.00 per hour max
** MAKE SURE YOU GET POWERTRAIN!! the active fuel management system on these new ls supplied vehicles are killing the lifters and the torque converter taking out the transmission.
the contract will either say "wrap PLUS comp" or "comp"
if it says wrap but not "plus" youre not getting the extended warranty powertrain"
*** also make sure emissions is NOT in the exclusions!!! DEF is emissions

id call the finance dept of the selling dealer where you bought the yukon to see what they have as well as allstate
hope i helped
