Re: 1969 K10 Project

It is pretty rough. Here is my plan: I'm going to take it apart and replace the axles with some from a 72 blazer. This way it will have open knuckle disc front and the rear end in this truck is about shot. I'm going to install new poly body bushings and leaf spring bushings. I will leave the 4" lift on it and find some 33's and ditch the 35's it has now and will not hack the fenders so large tires will fit. I have a 4 speed and a NP205 to replace the current rockwell tcase set up. I plan on leaving the original 2 piece rear drive shaft and I will have to replace the front shaft. I'm going to re-seal the 350 that is in it and switch from points to HEI. I have a new clutch for it already as well. I plan to paint the complete frame and powertrain before the body goes on.

For the body: I have a decent box I just purchased that only needs some dents taken care of. I have 2 decent doors I purchased from Randy, the hood is usable, I think, and I have 2 decent fenders. I have a few 71-72 grill shells and inners that I can use. I need to find a radiator support and I'd like to find a decent cab. I currently have an a/c cab but it needs typical things replaced. I have located a cab locally but I need to go see if it is worht what he is asking. I know if I can buy a nicer cab then that will help this project a long greatly. Luckily I have found a donor truck for all the A/C stuff I'll need. I also plan on turning this into a cheyenne super without tilt and tach, unless I run into a money tree. I've talked with the wife and I think I'm going to paint it orange and white. But if things are too tight it will be primer.

The goal here is to have it done and drive it to the All truck nationals the weekend of September 10th-12th. It is going to be a crazy 8 1/2 weeks.

Crazy schedule for sure. Where's the progress Ryan?

I have no real progress pics yet. Right now I have 2 ford cummins conversions clogging up the shop and one of my own needing work. Hoepfully I can get working on parts of this 69 soon.

Re: 1969 K10 Project

This weekend I went to Randy's house and picked up a few parts for this truck. I got another multi-gauge cluster, a set of black seat belts, a pretty nice 71-2 inner grill, and some chrome bumper gaurds. Thanks again Randy! Hopefully this week I will start the repairs on the fenders to get this project rolling.

Probably not as profitable, but I'd buy it the way it is if you can wait until next spring... :uhmk:

That's our trip out west plans, go find a truck to buy and have a honeymoon on the way after 3 years married in a couple months...

If you let me know when you're coming, I'll help you locate a project to purchase. There are a few sitting around here and there.

I'll take you up on that offer in the spring;) What does a decent truck like that go for in your area, considering I don't care about the drivetrain condition, wheels/tires... A range is fine:uhmk:

So lucky.... can't find one not rusted out for less than 3500 or so to start...

This truck is for sale now the way it sits until I ever get time to work on it. See the parts section if interested. Thanks Ryan.

There won't be anymore progress on this old truck. I sold it and it went to Texas.
