Parallel Double Park It Sideways

I ran across a 1963 Chevrolet Biscayne a couple months ago, it had been sitting in a field since 1985. It had very little rust and everything was there so we struck a deal to have it dropped off in my driveway. I actually made the guy take $100 less then he was asking because he couldn't find the keys. Of course the first day I worked on it I found the keys under the driver side rubber floor mat! Score. So now I have my first car, a '63 Biscayne with a 230 straight six and a powerglide.

For the last couple weekends Bobbo and I have been working on the brakes and motor. We rebuilt the carb, new water pump, points and it runs like a champ! After the brakes were done we tested the powergilde, added a quart of fluid and it runs down the road like a Cadillac!

Here are a few pictures of what we've got so far. I'll keep posting as I polish out the paint some more and get started on the interior. The plan is to keep the outside as is, maybe some wheels If I can find something cheap, but to have an imaculate stock interior. Oh yeah, also drop it to the ground. The frame on these cars is built with a C notch already so we've got about 12" of travel on the rear and 10" in the front.

Next time the sun comes out I'll get some good pictures of the paint and all the chrome and stainless polished out. It looks very different now.

That is a sweet car man. I dig the feel of it - and I think I have an idea of what you're going for the look.

What kind of rims do you potentially want to run?

Any plans for another hopped up six? Or is this just a low and slow kinda cruiser?

I would love some old school salt flats or something like that. For now it'll stay a low and slow cruiser. However, I'll be on the lookout for an LS engine sometime in the not too distant future after the interior is finished up.

I like, total sleeper with the go, and not much show, oh yeah, total opposite of the 67.

Yeah, it's nice to walk into the garage and have to decide if I want to go fast or slow.

What a hot ass she is. Look after it and that straight 6 will outlive us all.

Rims? What's up with the wheels on it? Putting some chrome or aluminum wheels would stink it up. Maybe try some wide steels with a bit of stretch on the tires and slam it? Damn, that would look hawt ...

Tinker around with hubcaps, it's all the bling you need ... :)

The wheels are off my S10, it gave me a good reason to buy new tires for my daily driver. Don't worry, there will be no 20's with spinners on this car while I own it.

She is definitely a slow cruiser, but has the go on demand. :) I am definitely going to trade you for a weekend when she's suitable!

Narrow whites, painted 8"steels with the small caps that were on it period correct. I like the drop light attached to the underside of the hood, where'd ya score that?

I had one . My dad bought it brand new . It was a 230 3OTT non syncroed 1st gear . My dad gave it to his mom , who gave it back . My dad had it painted and gave it to my brother . He drove it all through college and took it with him to Michigan and drove it up there year round . Well he moved back to Dallas and one day My dad called me up and said my brother was going to trade it in for $400 on a new Honda cause it was leaking oil real bad . I flew up gave him $500 for it and drove it home . The fuel pump was loose . I drove te car for about 6 or 7 years , but it never recovered after the 4 Michigan winters . Salt eat it up an i couldn't stop it . The frame broke in the rear and was just gone in spots . Nice find good luck with your project . They are neat cars and do really ride great .

Not much of an update but I finished up the body work on the roof. I plan on doing the floors and a three inch drop later on this month.

Man, that Biscayne is cleaning up nice! I can't believe how solid it is after being parked in that field for so long. Or maybe I'm just missing the bad since it's being over powered by all the good that's going on there.

I've never been one for 4 doors, but I'm really warming up to them. Especially this one!

Re: Parallel Double Park It Sideways

Yeah, there really isn't much rust on this thing. It only needs the front floors, passenger side rear floor, and just a tiny bit in the trunk.
