Will this also work for long beds with two piece shafts?

Everything in the system will except for the exhaust systems, which would take some modifications to account for the longer wheelbase.

Definitely the original chassis on mine. The frame stamp matches the VIN, and it was a 68,000 mile truck when I got it. But yeah, I'd bet it was a progressive change.

Thanks for confirming that, I'll make note of it for placement in the application technical notes.

Do you plan on making a exhaust system for the lwb and suburban chassis ? The only diffirence is 12" under the cab and 8" behind the wheels. I am glad this was mentioned as the part number does not specify lwb or swb simply c 10 trucks.

Thanks for pointing out the lack of clarity on the product descriptions; I’ll notify the product manager and get it taken care of. As far as for bolt-on coverage of the long wheelbase trucks themselves, I don’t see anything happening in that regard as they were ignored in the Squarebody C10 application, so I see the same thing happening here. I adapted one of those systems to my 1979 C20 rather easily and I’m sure others will do the same with long beds in this application.

Just to confirm this is the correct part number for installing a 6L80E in my 69 C10? The website indicated it was only for the T56 transmission.

71222024HKR

I just recently purchased a 2010 Camaro SS and going to start the process of stripping it down to be the donor car for my '69 Step-side. I want to reuse as much of this car as possible and it looks like this LS swap system is the direction I want to go to bolt it in. Just not sure if I can keep the Camaro oil pan or if I need to buy the Holley 302-2 or 302-3 while I'm at it.

Thanks,
Trent

Trent, the base crossmember is the same for all the transmissions with their specific geometries addressed by the use of spacer blocks, as needed. The T56 mounts directly on the center beam as its mount pad elevation is the lowest of all the transmissions. I believe there will be more crossmember part numbers being released over the next few weeks to cover the other transmissions. I can’t say one way or the other if the stock oil pan on your engine will be compatible with the Hooker Blackheart engine mounting brackets, but my guess is it won’t be based on my experience.

Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread

Hey Trent. The stock oil pan on the 2014 and up truck L83 will not work without modifications to either the cross member or the oil pan. It's about 4 or 5 inches taller than the swap pan from Holley. I tried to make my L83 fit in my 72 C10 and quickly came to that realization. The motor would be too far back in the chassis if I allowed a safe oil pan ground clearance and wouldn't fit under the hood if I placed it over the cross member. The only solution my pea brain could muster was to clearance the cross member. It was quite the hack so I added all kinds of structure to the inside of the cross member before I closed it up. If I had waited longer it sure would have made it a lot easier.

Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread

Thanks for the responses guys. I think i'll just order the Holley pan while i'm ordering the swap brackets. I'd like to use the camaro pan so I can keep the factory engine sealed up but guess its not in the cards. Guess the benefit will be not having to buy 8 quarts of oil to fill the new pan up, like the stock camaro pan. :)

Looks like Holley has some trans spacers for other kits for the 6L80E so I may just buy a one of the others and some shims to temporary get to 11/16" in height. I'm sure the actual spacer will be released before I get all the wiring and plumbing done and ready for a test drive again.

Does anyone know if the Blackheart exhaust system will work with the ECE transmission and trailing arm crossmembers? I already have both installed on my truck. After looking at the pictures, I think it will work, but would like to confirm before ordering the system.

There would be no way to guarantee the compatibility as I made no attempt to test it during the development of the Hooker Blackheart system.

Thanks. Can you tell me the center to center measurement of each end of the H-pipe assembly? Thanks again!

The inlet end is 21” and the outlet end is 21.5”.

I'm glad EddyC brought this back up to the top. I didn't see this thread when it was started.

Just yesterday I discovered the engine mounts I got from another source didn't line up very well with my frame and crossmember. I also discovered their trans crossmember is tight up to the inside of the frame on both sides, which doesn't leave room to run wiring and brake/fuel lines inside the frame.

I really like the design of these engine mounts since they mount in the holes that are further back on the top of the frame and the back hole on the crossmember. Not sure why other designs mount forward and then cantilever back.

Looks like if I order today I can pick them both up at Summit in Arlington on the 7th.

We just finished installing this 2.5" side exit exhaust on my 67. The exhaust hit my trans crossmember and crossover hit the tailshaft, so a couple mods were necessary for us. We couldn't have built an exhaust system from stainless steel for less than this Holley system.

Thanks for the info. Are you running the ECE trans and trailing arm ctossmembers?

We started with the ECE crossmember and only wound up using the mounting points. The exhaust hit the crossmember. I've got a stock crossmember with 4" holes for the exhaust and it's boxed in.

Thanks again for the info. I will take a few more measurements this weekend, but I think the 2.5 inch exhaust will work with the ECE dropmember. I slid under the truck and took a quick measurement. The exhaust holes have a 3.25 diameter and the center to center measurement is 22 inches. I will take a closer look on Saturday.

Look at the pdf of the holley instructions. I believe the holes in the crossmember have to be 5.5" from the frame rail. The exhaust ran right into the trans crossmember. We modified it to mimic the new holley trans crossmember.

Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread

Good point. I read the instructions. The exhaust holes need to be a minimum of 3.75 diameter.

I have a question about which Holley pan will be even with or above the engine crossmember? 302-2 or 302-3 ... what would be the main differences in the pans?

I also notice the recommended bolt kit for the engine mounts 71223015HKR says they are 150mm long and the recommended bolts according to the instructions are 140mm long. which is correct?

Does anyone have a sound clip of this system installed? It would be cool to hear the difference between the 2.5 a 3 inch system. I planned to go with the Borla ProXS, but I'm trying to keep an open mind.
