That reminds me that there is probably some bacon left. One of my sons bought a skillet with a glass lid to control spatter. It keeps the wife's squawking minimized. I use it, too. Kind of looks like a wok.

I use one of those screen thingamajiggers on my pan when frying bacon. Otherwise the stove is a total mess. It's still a mess even with the screen but not nearly as bad. I always strain and save the bacon grease. It's liquid gold.

I've tried bacon in the oven but it's not the same.

Sorry to derail the post. Best bacon you will ever eat! https://smokedmeats.com/collections/bacon Have 10 pounds in my freezer. Will eat a whole package in one sitting. Sorry for those out of state, no ship. Business is where I grew up and my brother's friend owns the company. Retail does not compare. Most do not believe until they taste, seriously good stuff.

The high school kids at my school have new words that they're using. Those words are:
SPICY
ZESTY
RIZZ
GLIZZY

From what I gather, here's what they mean to these teenage minds.......
SPICY means you like confrontation & you'll fight if anyone messes with you at all
ZESTY means queer or gay
RIZZ means you're cool or you got it going on!
GLIZZY is a penis.

Kids today. :)

When reading the Vienna Sausage thread I looked up the history. Kind of funny, but Vienna Sausage was just thinner parboiled link sausage or frankfurter wurst in Europe. The word weiner is German for Viennese and so is glizzy. Then rappers in the Wash,DC/MD/VA area started using glizzy to mean a Glock. On TicTok in '20 started using it to mean hot dog again as if they invented the word.

I saw one of those screens used years ago and thought "What a great idea". I finally got one a year or two ago. It was a great idea, but they don't work so well afterall. Still need to wipe up every surface as when not using one, just a bit lighter coating. THEN, you have the screen you have to wash, so they actually create more work. I don't bother with mine, just taking up space. A yard sale item

No shipping? For my son's HS graduation party we ordered up 15# of North Carolina pulled pork BBQ. I think they specialized in sending it out. It was shipped frozen packed in dry ice. I guess your bacon place doesn't want to fuss with that.

I bet that bacon is good. I'll bet there are smaller local places like yours all over the place only locals know about. I know about a few great sources around here as well

No way around the mess, but the screen helps. Mmmm, Bacon. It`s worth it.

Also tried the oven, but wasn`t satisfied with the outcome.

You aint kidding. Way back when, my roommate's brother in law worked as a trucker for a company that supplied meats to restaurant's. He would give us bacon and hot dogs. How he got them I don't know. Somebody left them in the truck? I never asked.

These hot dogs and bacon were better than anything that you could buy at the store but you couldn't buy them. Only restaurant's could. I never understood that.

The oven is cleaner and the bacon comes out flatter which is good for sandwiches and burgers. But it's just not right. It needs the grease.

Reminds me of a time I went to Carl's Jr. and got a bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was as thin as a razor blade and dry as a bone. That aint bacon in my opinion.

It's a movement of self gratification, and for the trendy, where the core's subconscious recognizes they have racist tendencies, and they project that onto others. Since they feel they need to come to terms with it, the entire pot must require the same.

Plus racist and such narrations are standard operation for especially one side of center:smoke:

I think it comes out OK, you know, it's bacon after all, tastes better than anything thus must be good for you;). But agree, frying pan is best and above all a frying pan and camping.

Yeah, definitely a self-made proclamation for the self-righteous. For what reasons I do not know, but likely out of some need to overcome personality deficiencies. I think it's about creating an online identity using what has been learned spending time online. I feel great about how I see things and act on things, in the real world. There's no label for it, no announcement. It's about how 'I' feel about what 'I' see and the part that matters to others are my actions they might observe. Do what you do. Talk is cheap. Just put some thought into it first.

My former superintendent was a real jerk. No one liked this guy at all. He always signed his smarta$$ & rude memos with his initials, which happened to be "WAP". All of us teachers would joke about how many things got "WAPPED" around the school. We even started calling him "The WAPPER."

One summer, the head football coach wanted to change the helmet stickers from the one that we had used for years & years to another updated version. He was told no.......that got WAPPED real quick!

All this was before the WAP song, if you want to call it a "song." WAP retired a few years ago and I know we woulda really had fun with him when the song came out.

They do ship, anywhere in Ca for free. The smoked meat products made there can only be sold in Ca. From what I understand an FDA inspector would have to be employed and onsite to ship out of state. The jerky is real good as well, not made at that site and can be shipped anywhere AFAIK.

That's interesting considering CA's high standard marks for... just about anything. That's probably a 50 state thing, though, and more about the size of the business not warranting the hire. That BBQ place in NC might be a bigger operation. I was about amazed to find we could actually get meat shipped when we did that. Maybe some day I'll be out there and can try that bacon

Merriam-Webster says, "Woke means aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)". Then comes the distortion people are known so well for.

 That's funny right there.

If you order veal then you should wear a fur coat when you pick it up just to stick it to them.

I'm sick of these holier than thou people that they think they know better than me telling me what to do. They can take their flea bitten opinion and stick it in their nether region and wake that up.

Bingo!! By definition I am "woke". I care, but I don't wear my consciousness on my sleeve or throw it at people or use it as a pedestal to put me above anyone else. Doing so also creates social issues, ya think? Like a divided people? A dose of moderation gets a message across better than separation into extreme groups. Live and let live

This might fit the definition. Today at work, Big Box Hardware Store ( I dont want to get fired by naming, but most of you know haha) I found out we have to take down all the signs that are around the entire store that say Get It Installed, turns out someone thought it was aggressive. All new signs will be going up We Can Install This.

I think I asked at least three times ... Is this true? Is someone messing with me? Then I saw the new signs ... sheesh.

Re: what is Woke on a forum ?

Could you please edit your post? I am very offended by that installed statement. The one that says "We can install this". Makes me feel like it's saying I can't.

I get annoyed (slightly) by their ads that keep saying "Let's...this & that" over and over. Let's? Is someone from there going to be helping with this project?

I think they changed for another reason. Get it installed means having anyone install it. We can install this means having your store install it, or means I do it and they are up to more of that "Let's" talk

Pretty simple to me.
Weak and stupid people trying to justify their position in life by dragging down everyone else to their level (equity), instead of trying to better themselves and those around them.

I have a few rules when it comes to people:

1. If you are strong and stupid I respect that.
2. If you are weak and smart I respect that.
3. If you are strong and smart I want you for a friend.
4. If you are weak and stupid I don't want you around at all.

And if this offends you see #4

I can actually see why they would do that. They want a piece of the action. They don't want you farming it out to your guy because there's no profit for them in that. That BS about being aggressive is just an excuse. They want a cut.

I used a big box store, (unnamed for your protection) to install my kitchen cabinets and counters and it was all their people doing the work. Cha Ching $$$$.

I still got what I thought was a good deal. :)

I like this.

But…

What if I have just a smidge of each? Lol
