Not a bed fill but another idea. If it was my truck I'd do it this way but on the drivers side of the truck.

17 TTs I need to update the specs on my build page. I'll look up the tire sizes and back spacing tomorrow

Metaldoc's idea is what I'll be doing if I move the tank from the cab. I think it is great!

I don't know if you have a fleetside or a stepside, I have a stepside that I'm going to install a rear tank. If you go to Hagan street rod necessities they have pictures of flip open fuel doors. I'm installing one on the inside of the box just below rear fender line so that the fuel pipe will be running straight down behind the fender to the tank. It should be an easy fill being only about 10" from the tailgate.

No problems filling at all. I like it. I do carry a rag with me. Drop tailgate, cover the end of the nozzle until over the fill hole. Pump 10 gallons or so that will be gone in 60 miles lol. Got to love BBCs. mine is a POL tank. About a foot from the tailgate to the filler neck
I think I ended up cutting an 1 1/2" hole. Even though I needed 1 7/8" I think. I couldn't figure out how to get dead center of the hole. So I cut small then took dremel tool and finished the rest. Buddy of mine had a good idea. But we didn't do it. Set truck up so it doesn't move. Hang plumb bob from ceiling. Center in the hole you need to cut. Raise it. Put bed on. Drop it. Bingo. |
