The bed was test fitted this week. Still need to paint the rear end, mount the tank and compressors, wire the truck, and install the powertrain and related items. Coming along though and the shop is doing great work!

Re: 71 Cheyenne LWB Build (RideTech Air and zz502)

Given that this build has grown, my shop had some other customer deadlines to meet. They should be back on it next week. We were also waiting on the wiring harness, radiator, and headers. The weather is starting to get nice so I’m getting more and more anxious!

Do you know what the original drop was when you got it?

Not exactly as it was lowered two owners ago - the truck was running KYB shocks all around with Early Classic drop spindles (I believe they only made 2.5”) and cut factory heavy duty leaf springs in the rear. No flip kit.

Re: 71 Cheyenne LWB Build (RideTech Air and zz502)

Not much to update as my shop is still wrapping up a few other projects. The wiring harness arrived and they should get going on that this week. I also got my Entropy Radiator in thanks to Pro Performance! And I have to share my 502 fender badges thanks to Shortie!!

Updated my signature a bit ago finally. Since I don't have many updates I figured I'd share my other "projects".

Figured I'd add some updates. It's been a while as my shop had some other deadlines and we waited on some parts.

Engine bay clean up. New interior wiring is done and the majority of the engine bay wiring will be hidden.

Today was a big day as we found the right combo of headers and engine mounts that fit.

Next up will be driveshaft, engine accessories, radiator, wrapping up air ride tank and compressors, exhaust, and alignment. Getting closer!

That is coming together nicely. Like the wife's rig too. I'm a Toyota fan myself.

Re: 71 Cheyenne LWB Build (RideTech Air and zz502)

Ran into a snag as my CVF serpentine system wouldn't fit with the Entropy radiator. The shop ended up pulling everything yesterday to move the tubular mounts back. All back together now and the driveshaft is out for fitment.

We're getting closer. Today we got the Flowmaster Super 44s on. Took a bit longer than expected to route past all the air ride so alignment will have to wait until next week. Here are a couple pics on the rack pretty much aired out.

I might have to post a video of the beast uncorked running only headers. It's absolutely ridiculous. I may need to install some cutouts down the road!

Re: 71 Cheyenne LWB Build (RideTech Air and zz502)

More update pics. It's nearly done. Having a small issue with the air ride as the software won't store the preset heights. We did set it at ride height in these pics and attempted to get it aligned but the company wasn't very helpful. Probably need to find another shop for that. Anyone think I should tint the windows?

Love your truck. But it’s a no from me on tinted windows.

Thanks! I haven’t done the tint yet primarily because of the factory, blueish tinted glass.

Perfect as it is, no tint.:chevy:

I love my tinted windows on my daily new truck but I vote no tint on the classic. So much cleaner looking without.

Re: 71 Cheyenne LWB Build (RideTech Air and zz502)

I like the truck how it looks. I think my preference for tint is very dependent on the location the truck is in, and how dark you're wanting to go. Absolutely not on "limo tint" as I think it looks bad. I have my 71 tinted with the darkest legal tint we can have in Texas for the front windows on any vehicle, with the same on the back. I like it. But I don't have the factory tinted glass either.

I dig the tint on your blue truck. Not sure I’d like it the same on the orange/white.

Separately, we should have the truck back from the alignment shop tomorrow. Just a few final items and I should be cruising by the weekend!

Nice you have it to enjoy for the most of the summer. Looks great, I was afraid with all the upgrades you kept coming up with one of them would be to turn it in to a shorty. Glad you kept it long!

Ha. Thanks! I do like these two tones in a long bed. I do have a few items left for another year - possibly tub the rear end, and then vintage air with an interior cab repaint with new carpet and possibly new bench. We shall see :)
