Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)

These sorts of trucks make me wish I was hunting for a 2WD... would be a lot easier. Where are all the 4x4 versions of this? :mm:

Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
that is an extremely nice truck. all appears legit and as it would have originally. correct 71 customecamper20 emblems on fenders, not doors, and still has the factory buckets. Very very nice truck. reserve not met, so seller may know just how nice it is too! Someone buy this! Reminds me of my 71 custom camper 20, but this is much nicer than mine ever was!

4x4 versions are hidden in the back woods, I know were a '72 stepside shortbox half ton is. Guy who owns it is older, and uses it for winter fire wood hauling.
From what I see of it, the truck isn't beat up still looks real good. Just has a after market front bumper on it. Might ask him one of these days if it's for sale. |

This truck was on C'List a couple years ago and I tried to buy it but couldn't come to terms with the original owner. I see it has had some changes done to it. I don't think it is being sold with the original tailgate because the tailgate on the truck is the Ebay ad looks like it has been painted and the wood grain looks scuzzy as well. I'll let pics show you the differences. Still a very nice mostly original truck with BB. Buckets and A/C.

Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
Nice looking rig.
I wonder why the alternator bracket was changed out? Or was it a motor swap? Wonder if he has the original CARB? To bad they rattle canned the motor; overspray on the AC bracket. Needs the correct upper radiator tube, air breather down tube, correct wiper blades, and antenna to name a few minor issues. Reserve probably 10-12. Nice truck. |
Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
Says it has an Aux Batt too but I do not see it in the pics. Maybe they removed it? Also, where should the rad overflow and WW fluid res be located on an Aux battery truck? Are they in the correct place on this rig?
|
Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
I've never actually seen a truck with aux batt on the SPID with it still in the truck. Lots of aftermarket wiring craziness, but few originals. I think they just got tossed over the years as they went bad and the owners ran em on a single batt setup as they got older.

Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
I think most 4x4's were driven harder than 2wd trucks.
Thus to find a mint 4x4 is possible but rare. JMHO |
Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
I bought a 1 ton chassis mount camper '72 a year ago with aux. battery, still has the wiring and tray, but has more modern battery isolator installed, instead of the two relays. By the way this is being junked out, camper lots of dry rot. Does have the original carb on a rebuilt 402 original engine run great when I drove it home.
Still think I got a good deal on my '71 Cheyenne Super 3/4 402, 4-speed, factory air all there still works, tack and gauges, aux. tank, Dana 60 3:54 gears, cargo light, rear slider window, hounds tooth, green interior Dark Olive Green outside, all for $3.200. |

Nicely optioned truck, even has tilt. This is what people SHOULD be buying for around $9K, though I have no idea what the reserve is. |
Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
I suppose my question about where all the 4x4's are was largely rhetorical. I understand they're much harder to find; many less made, used harder over their lifetimes, etc. It gets even more difficult when I consider the condition/options I'm looking for.
It's just as I go through my various searches every day or two I can't help but think it would be a lot easier if I were just looking for a 2WD... but I guess the search is part of the fun! :) |

Very nice truck. Don't see the camper wiring plug either, above gas cap.

Very nice truck. Not to pick it apart (because I really like it) but the tool box door has had work done on it, zoom in and you see where it's got rivets on it. And it looks like at least the drivers bed side has been painted (the extra tank under the bed Is painted blue where it hangs down under the bed), damn cool truck though

Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
Can someone school me on this variation? The EBay listing says the truck is a Cheyenne but the SPID doesn't say so. The truck is emblemed as a Custom Camper 20 on the front fenders while the SPID lists a CST package. I thought the ascending luxury hierarchy was nuttin', then Custom Deluxe, then Cheyenne, then Cheyenne Super. I see the truck has a headliner and chrome exterior trim. Is this a 1971 thing? The bid is at $11K as of this morning.

Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
Also, Z81 Custom Camper nameplate supersedes trim level nameplates (Custom/Custom Deluxe/Cheyenne/Cheyenne Super). Z81 Custom Camper is not a "model" or trim level, per se, it's a name plate the original buyer could opt for if he had certain min equip. In 72, the trim level emblems returned to the fender if ordered concurrently with Z81 because the Custom Camper script was moved to the door.

EDIT: btw, reserve has been met! this beauty is going to a new home in 4 days. Hope it's a member, this is a very nice truck (despite the paint on the aux tank :), I'm sure I could live with that...) |
Re: Very nice C20 Cheyenne Survivor on eBay (not mine)
Jocko, I'm digging the one you just posted a photo of. See, wherever that is, that's where the 4x4 versions are hanging out!
