The life and times of (Oscar) a 1966 Chevrolet H70

Although, I've posted a photo of this truck before on another thread I'm not sure if I've posted these photos yet. My family's construction company once owned a 1966 Chevrolet Series 70 or, H70 Digger Derrick with a Tulsa winch and a Midwest TelElect boom and at one time drill. After my family's Construction Company finally decided to send it to the junkyard about 10 years ago after being retired at least 8 years before. I was able to find this interesting book in the glove box before it got sent to scrap. His name was Oscar (like the Sesame Street character) my dad would take the truck in to get the 401 Big Block GMC routinely serviced he would go to start it the next day and, it would not start to save his life haha. I don't know who owned the truck before Nebraska Public Power District did since they were formed in 1970 but, it was what they were called before that. I wish I had the VIN number so it could shed a little more light on what he was. He was retired in 1980 and, my dad acquired it through the annual N.P.P.D. inventory auction they used to have. As expected over the years mice had gotten to this log book as well but, you can pretty much imagine what a lot of the stuff about the N.P.P.D. policy is. And I believe that they're very good guidelines to follow. I thought people might find this book (or what's left of it lol) interesting.

Here are the last photos of the log book. I wish I found more but the only thing I remember seeing in the glove box was the mice version of the Playboy Mansion lol.

Looks like it was well maintained.

This reminds me of my Grandpa.

He always kept records of service of all his vehicles.

Oh it was pretty well maintained but, by the time my family's construction company got done with him from what I remember there was a couple holes in the roof, you could see the Highway by the gear shift lever and there wasn't really anything left of the seat except for the frame and Springs. And from my experience you don't see too many of them with the flat floor and a full bench seat.

Yep, fleet maintenance is a good thing. That's why I have bought three light trucks from utilities and municipalities. They aren't high optioned with the fancy stuff and the employees tend to scratch and ding them pretty good due it "It's not mine" mentality. But routine maintenance is never overlooked and when something breaks it gets fixed
