"modern" rims on 70 Burb
I'm just starting a build of my 1970 2WD Suburban and have just installed a "Classic Chevy's" lowering kit on it that went on flawlessly BTY. My question is: my lugs are still 6 lug which is the same as current Chevy Trucks. Does anyone know if the current Chevy 18" or 17" wheels will work on my Burb? Backspace OK etc? I see lots for sale on E-Bay, Craigslist, etc. and like the look over aftermarket rims. Thanks from a newbie in advance.

Re: "modern" rims on 70 Burb
Welcome!
Backspacing on a 15" styled steel rim from the 70's is 4" and worked great on my 70 K10. Backspacing on a 2000 16" Chevy aluminum rim is over 5". The hub size is different too. Hub size for a 1970 is 3.5 and the late model rim is 3" You are gonna need a heck of a spacer. Paul |
