Master Cylinder Help
I am looking for information on the '68-'72 Master Cylinder on a 1/2 ton truck with Manual Drum front & Rear brakes.
Can it be confirmed that they are 7/8" bore? Also, are both front & rear 1/4" tube on these trucks? Thank You for any help, Lorne |
Re: Master Cylinder Help
Just a note - disk/drum became standard in 71.
For pre-71 trucks, drum/drum brake system (power or manual) had 1/4" lines all the way around. Hopefully someone else can chime in with bore size, don't recall off the top of my head. |
Re: Master Cylinder Help
Thanks Jocko!
I thought I remembered the front lines were both 1/4" originally on a truck a friend had that we swapped to power discs years ago. Ironicly, I am planning to adapt/install the (now that you cleared it up) '68-'70 manual drum/drum Master Cylinder on a '39 Ford that my brother & I are working on. It has all 1/4" lines & I want to go to a divided bowl Master Cylinder. The other important part is the deep cup w/clip on the rod to be sure the rod cant fall out. The bore of the original Master Cylinder is 1 1/16" so either the inch or 7/8" should work well...I found conflicting specs when searching the size. Take Care, Lorne |
