Blazer top question - Single/double wall

1 Attachment(s)
I just broke my single wall top. I now have a broken single wall top and a broken double wall top. Which is better? What are the benefits?

I am going to repair one of them, and I don’t know which one.

Thanks for any advice,

Single wall is easier to pull on and off. Lighter, easier access to bolts.

Double has more tendency to split in the middle but insulates better.

Does your blazer have the bolt patter to fit both tops? If not i'd fix the one that fits your rig. If both tops fit (and if damage is equal on both), then I'd fix the single wall. They are a little more sturdy because they dont have the crease down the middle like the double. I also prefer the single because it is much easier to take off since it bolts from the top down, unlike the double that bolts from the bottom up.

Thanks for the answers. I like the single wall top better. The double wall looks like it would have less tendancy to break where it attaches to the rails. Since my Blazer will accept either top, I am going to use the single with some steel on top of the repaired lip and drill it out so I can put bolts through all holes. I hope it doesn't crack again. I am afraid of it crushing my head while I am offroading.

I need a back hatch handle really bad.
Would you sell the one off the top you
are not using. If it's the original with a
key I'll give $50.00 including shipping.
Please let me know

I don't have the key, but I think the handle is ok. I guess I am going to trash it. I am in Houston. Do you need anything else off of it?
Your K5 is very nice looking

Thanks,
I have had it 16 years and didn't know
what I had the Highlander package is
kinda rare. and this one is stock with
no mods.
I broke the handle off a couple of months
ago and now it's hard to get it open when
I need to. I really want a stock handle instead
of the kind you can get at home depot for $8.
I'll post the pics of the two different kinds.

ps We have 2 daughters that live in Spring.
one of them is 2 miles from Outback Truck Parts.
Have you been there?

The one on the left is stock.
It might be easer for both of us
to just get the whole mechanism.

always wondered what the difference is.

Someone snagged the hatch handle. Sorry.
I work in Spring and have bought a lot of parts from Outback truck parts.
One day I will paint my truck. I still do too much wheeling to do it now.
