Thanks Mike the fenders are decent but my problem is my complete lack of metal working skills. If I had your skills I would fix them. I don't know what I'm going to do yet.

Got a lot of odds and ends done this weekend on the truck and my brother finished welding up the cab for me. Also tacked my rear bag mounts in after setting my frame at ride height and centering the rear. Quick pic of the Porterbuilt firewall filler finally done

Thanks guys, I can't take the credit, my brother did the welding. I just stood there until he was done  Now I get to grind it down and start the bodywork. Good news is now I should be able to get the cab back on by the end of August.

Got some work done on the truck today. Finally drilled out my spindles for the rack and pinion. Now I have to shorten the threads on the rack a little, but I'll get that another day  I also cleaned up and primered my grill shell, center support and hood latch. Once they were dry I bolted them up to the core support to get a look. I should have the cab and front clip bolted back on in a couple of weeks.

Thanks guys, it felt good getting a piece of the sheet metal finally bolted back on even if it was only the grill. I know it is only for mockup but its a start.

Thanks Eric, just read on your thread about your mother. Sorry to hear that she has to battle the cancer again. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers and hope she beats it down again.

Feels good to start combining those little piles of parts into a truck right? Keep up the good work!

Yeah it is exciting to see it become a truck again. It will probably be in mockup for a while until I can figure out what to do with the paint. I have never painted anything other than rattle cans and a professional body shop is going to be out of the question for quite a while. I'm going to put all the body panels on and set the gaps and finish all the little odds and ends then worry about what to do about the paint.

Thanks Buck it does feel good. It has been so long since I have actually seen it as a truck I was getting very discouraged that it would ever be back together. Good news is my wife and I are supposed to close on our new house on the 28th. That means I can finally get it in own garage so I can work on it as often as I want to. Maybe it will look like a truck again by the winter :chevy:

That's great news on the house! We are in the process of trying to build so I can understand your relief. :c2:

Thanks, yeah it's made by Porterbuilt. Give Nate or Dave a shout, they can hook you up. Makes it easy to smooth it out.

Front end looks great. I really like the r/p setup. I bet it will steer like a modern sports car. I hope to do those kind of uprgrades some day.

Thanks Mike, I really hope it handles good too, especially for the money it cost me  but honestly the dropmember and associated components are second to none in my opinion. Even if you aren't looking to lay frame, the modern steering and suspension geometry as well as the increased ground clearance makes it a really really nice kit. I just hope that big heavy hunk of iron motor doesn't weigh it down to much in the front and eliminate some of the handling potential.

No worries there bro, you can just replace your cast iron block with an aluminum block from Dart!
