Re: GM Semis

Killer thread. I just sold one of my Oldsmobiles, so I have some funds to pick up a vintage rig for occasional shows, Saturday breakfast runs, stuff like that. My car partner in crime has his CDL that he rarely uses and we have proper indoor/outdoor storage space. Now may be the time. : )

I've been looking at Astros and Titans as front runners. Here are a few pics from the Dying Breed Diesels FB page. I've been considering a Titan that they have now, and I love a '73 Astro w/DD that they have but it may be a little too used up for my purposes (major cab stress cracks, well worn interior, etc.)

The red Titan day cab is for sale in Wisconsin. Love it from the pics but can't get up there to see it in person anytime soon.

That day cab would be neat. There is a single axle day can Astro in my county on a farm I look at whenever near. That thing looks as tall as it is long!

I'm in search of one of each fender emblem from 1963. So far I have 10-20-50-60. I'd like to find 30-40-60diesel-70-80-90.
From my knowledge the 50-60 were called Vikings. And the 70-80-90 Spartans. Pretty neat stuff! These ol monsters are pretty rare and supper cool.

Good looking Emblems.

Try typing the Part Numbers into Google. Sometimes you can find some for sale that way.

I've been doing research for a little while and I can't find anything . I'm big on 63 I'd like to have one of each in a frame on the wall. It be odd I think for them to skip a year

Re: GM Semis

The C-40 which was like a very heavy 1-Ton with a GVW of 14,000 ended in '62. I don't believe any C-40's of any kind were made '63 to '66.

Re: GM Semis

Hey thanks that's good to know. Did they stop the c70-80-90 also after 62-66?
If I'm understand this correctly 63-66 was only 10-20-30-50-60?

C10 - C90 Bill 04-06-2016 02:46 PM

Re: GM Semis

Up to '66 they made C-80's in the "C" Series. You could get a '66 90 in the "H" and "J" Series.

OK thanks for the info! I appreciate it!

Here's a nice example of a '64 C-80.

Notice the Wide Fenders that some of the Heavy Axle Trucks have.

Looks like you and I are in the same boat.
I have been collecting '63 designation emblems for a while now and am missing the 60 DIESEL and 80 DIESEL emblems.
If I ever come across a pair of either I will let you know so we can complete our collections.

Here is what I have so far;
