Re: Dragndoorhandle

Yea, I drew it up on graph paper and the drawing I had didnt work to spec so I just winged it. The top sub frame was made last b/c I didnt want to cut the bed out for the drive shaft. The connecting rods and flywheel chuncks were on the fly also. We were tryin to use things around the shop to make gussets with. There are a lot of " Rat Rod" guys down there so you know how they are. And I was only going to back half it and they kept talkin me into more and more. I was a fuel cell away from rollin out and was talked into Zing the frame then I ran the 2x4 box under the rails and then the ***** didnt lay out b/c I only did a 2 3/4 Z and didnt plan on the 2x4 rails, so I sectioned the front Xmember 1.125 inches and b/c I did that now my "GOAL" of cuting off the pinch weld went to bye bye rocker. I wasted aLOT of $$$$ b/c I didnt have a 100% game plan so if ANYONE has a question about how I got the truck to sit like this message me and Ill help. I know how it is to not get any help and thats not my goal at all. The new goal is to have it running in 2 months and have every truck in the forum laying frame....................

Thats pretty much how i do it to, wing it and waste money figuring it out later. One day I get plan together prior to the build. it looks good though

7duece, looks like some killer work. I've loved your truck since I first saw it on here. Best of luck finishing it up, mine's getting bagged in the next couple of weeks, I just need to order the parts and get them installed. Can't wait!

I have to cut a TON to get the front tires to clear. But this is all I got done today. Tomarrow order the 265.00 steering joints. This project is getting $$$$$$$$$$$

I still have to cut a few inches off the bottom of the bed.

Re: Dragndoorhandle

I take it that when droped it has zero ground clearance.

Re: Dragndoorhandle

You can cut or you can find a parking lot with smooth concrete and drag it slow and smooth with the body on the ground, then plate them.

Just another shot. The fenders are all lined up and the inner fenders are cut. Now all I have to do is the hood and mount the sache hood hinges and the steering shaft. I figure another million dollars and it should be done.

Damn thats a killer looking ride...

Re: Dragndoorhandle

The underside of the hood is non existent. and you can see whats left of the fenders with 15"s in this pic. Thats why we narrowed the frontend for maximum clearance. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1143739215

Re: Dragndoorhandle

Thats cool but how safe are they going to be in the event of a crash???? Because somuch of the inner structure has been cut away.I would suggest pin on hood or reversed hinges to solve the clearence issues.

Re: Dragndoorhandle

I have more box tubing in this frame than in most steel yards. FULLY boxed. 100% As far as the fenders and hood go, I ran 3/8" round stock to reinforce the hood and fenders. Also these c10 were made of real metal, not like a f#$kin S10. You can lay a bead down and not worrie about blowing through. These stock floored trucks are just as safe or safer than a stock truck if done right. A few more mods to the tranny Xmember for the exhaust and install the $700 worth of ididit column and steering joints and its off to the painter. I WILL BE AT INDY!!!!!!

I had to redo the tranny Xmember so I could have an exhaust. Hood hinges are next. INDY OR BUST
